On the question of "why is the Air Force investigating Navy video releases" I would guess they have a dog in this fight. Specifically, whatever is being filmed probably belongs to the Air Force.

I think the pilots are right, I think it's probably an XQ-58A Valkyrie

The Air Force is developing it, and the Navy wants it for carrier groups.

I like to think that many, many years ago aliens were discovered, but that every single UFO sighting and encounter after that has been something terrestrial. It seem the most amusing if the governments of the world have been trying to cover-up an event from a century or two ago and it's just taken on a life of its own.

That's one of the more popular explanations for the cover-up. It's not necessarily that these government programs think it should be hidden anymore, it's that they did think that in the 50's and to admit it now would undermine public confidence in them in various ways. The entire cover-up at this point is just inertial butt-covering by people who don't want to be the first to blow the lid.

Nope. The videos were shot in 2004 and 2015, while Valkyrie didn't fly until last year.

It was aliens.

Yeah but there are other drones. XQ-58A wasn't acknowledged to have flown until last year, but a prototype likely did before that. There are a ton of UCAV's active and in development from 2004 -> 2015.

In 2004, that would be around the time of the MQ-9 'Reaper' drones were being developed or the X-47 Pegasus.
