What other useful food could you have grown in the huge amount of space that the pumpkins will take up?

baronbloodbath: KungFuJunkie: From the time of planting, how many days will it be before a pumpkin is fully grown and then rots?

I'm expecting to plant within the next two weeks. The pumpkins should be fully grown by September/early October and ready for harvesting. I harvested two smaller pumpkins last year and I've still got em. Haven't rotted or anything.

That seems early, what are the night time temperatures?

Around here squash is not a good idea until about June/July when the night time temps stay above 60 or so.  Lots of cool rain is also not great because it leads to fungus.
