A lot of people have been positive on Pelosi since the impeachment.

But I've been reluctant to say much.

Congress - Pelosi - is taking their cues from the media, not from internal affairs and documentation. They start their questions with, "[media outlet name] reported that... [fact]".

Pelosi's Congress is completely and utterly ignorant of their oversight capabilities. They're all just there to win the next election. I don't know where the USA got to the point that congresscritters care more about their jobs than their constituents, but nothing good comes from this, ever.

F*cking little Guam boys, if he's a typical republican with a wide stance and plenty of rush limbug certified Viagra.

Love that the idiots revealed themselves so quickly once this story broke.
Oh, someone is taking extraordinary measures to warn people of a crisis affecting soldiers they're responsible for?
Oh, the bad things happened?
Oh, he's fired?
Oh we're going to call him stupid and naive?

Easy to see who was right and who was wrong, and why the captain thought he had to go to the lengths he did to get things corrected.

Money aside, because in the military a half mil is a drop in the bucket, who thought this was a good idea? Was the stated purpose to boost morale? What specific function did this moldy asshat feel he was accomplishing? Has a SecNav ever traveled across the world to justify the removal of a captain? Goddamn these chucklefarks continue to further embarrass what is left of this country.

NATO countries and many other countries need to stop treating us as an ally. Take steps to treat us as a bad actor in the world. You know, on the same level as Russia and Best Korea. Tear up trade agreements. Adopt another currency as the global standard. Close boarders and refuse to accept American passports. Heck, withdraw your ambassadors and yes I know what that implies. I only say this because we are not cleaning our own house. In fact, we are escalating the shiat flinging. "We" meaning those in position of national governance. And the common person has lost any voice in the matter. Tyranny by the minority. It is NOT sustainable. It will lead to much worse things. The world has to come together and say "enough".  When the diaper training is over you can come back to the adult table. Until then we deserve complete isolation from the rest of the world.

And by the way, we do have the technology to convey the message to the crew remotely. In fact we have had that technology for probably close to 100 years.

The Googles Do Nothing: Our military is weak and the world is laughing at America.  SAD!

As a Canadian, I think the sadder thing is that we're NOT laughing at you any more.

You're not the annoying neighbor that parties too loud with your flag and your "Murica, fark yeah!" any more.

You're not even the weirdass neighbor with the big house and dumb orange dog and delusions of grandeur any more.

You're the neighbor who fights with his wife all the time while the kids act like little shiats and we KNOW you have a gun.

The sad part we're worried about you. We know you're more likely to harm yourselves than anyone else. And can't do anything about it.

Sure. Some things can be hidden. Even not reported on.

Other things are documented. Even for the explicit reason of oversight. But when you go to the investigative extra-governmental data supplied to the public instead of, you know, normal documentation first, it's pretty plain what the focus is.

Which is, of course, not losing the next election Again: Congresscritters are so terrified of losing the next election that they're willing to hide things from their constituents unless it's drawn into dramatically sharp relief by journalists.

It baffles me why you're defending this. Nobody should defend this. It doesn't matter if the Congresscritters are Dems or GOP. This is a failure of the intention of democracy as laid out by the Founders.

This is a weird thread. Compare the cost you're griping over to the cost of running an Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carrier and it just is completely insignificant. He was an ass. He did just about everything wrong. But it wasn't the cost of him flying out to Guam that was the issue, not in the slightest.

Further, he fired the Captain. It was up to him to defend his actions to the crew. He just sucked at it. He was handicapped somewhat by it having been a poor and hasty decision. But flying out was not wrong, just what he did before and after he got there.

Toxic Park: Why in gods name does the Navy have, or have access to Gulfstream private luxury jets?!

The military has a large number of those jets available for travel by Secretaries, cabinet members, etc. It's really not that big of a deal in general. It is when this type of shiat happens.
