What the everloving fark??

One of the things that we're discussing already is that in order to return to some semblance of normal

That is not normal. That is not the "semblance" of normal. It is not only ineffectual and invasive, logistically it would take people hours just to get into the park. And I was pissed when they put in metal detectors.

...ok, if they're going to do it, at least let the Disney Princesses do it. It is going to be rectally, isn't it? Snow White is the closest they have to a goth so....wait, is Princess Leia part of the group? I'd like to change my response to this idea.

Considering what they charge per ticket, I am assuming they will be taking temperatures rectally.

-Develop smart phone that *accurately* takes body temp.
-People flash the screen at door guys, hostesses and security like it's ID
-Profit

There's apps that do the temp, just not that accurate. And attachments you can plug into the usb jack. Can't be that difficult to go the extra step to add accurate temp capability internal to the phones. The 'ok' screen should be standardized to make checking easier. Like green numbers for regular body temp, red for fever kinda deal.

Already shown to be about as effective a screening criteria as the places that are still asking if you've traveled. They're both just meant to LOOK like you're doing something.

Continuing the tradition of the TSA

Challenge - Central Florida heat in the summer (which is like May to November).

But yeah, I do see this tech expanding rapidly in light of this.

Yup. Asymptomatic carriers, and those without a fever will pass this test and continue to infect those around them. This is simply not a good idea.

Who the f*ck would consider going to a Disney park while running a fever?
"Gee, honey, my temperature is 104 and even my bones ache. You know what sounds like a great idea?  The Magic Kingdom. In July."

Parents who've laid out thousands of dollars in non-refundable travel and hotel reservations, requested vacation days from work far in advance, who want to avoid if at all possible disappoint their kids who've been looking forward to this for months.  I can see someone suffering through however bad they feel at the start in the hope that they'll get better during the stay and that their kids might still have fun.

What - 15, 20% of people who have it are asymptomatic?
What f**king genius came up with this idea?

Ever been there in the summer?

Everyone in that park had a body temperature of 104F.

Why do ideas like this even get floated?

Are they not watching the news?  Last I heard, 40% at any given moment might be shading with no symptoms.

Now we have Der Trumpen Fuhrer on his Grand Wizard ReOpening of Murca again.

He doesn't have the brains for this, but I thought Disney was better.

The same reason they installed metal detectors even though there's ever been an incident of gun violence at Disney or any other major theme park as far as I know. They want to do something, anything to look like they're doing something, anything so that the dumbass masses will feel safer, whether they are or not.

This is how Japan has been approaching things, and how Xi was doing things when he Shanghaied the Chinese park.

CDC and other guidelines state a temp of 100.4 or higher is a fever. I suspect they would use hand held infrared thermometers, no contact. And for those who say the temps mean your skin is 100.4 are full of malarkey. Easy solution would be a cooling tent or otherwise to establish a baseline air temp then scan them again. But it would not catch the carriers as stated above.

It's going to be a nightmare if they try to implement that.

THIS. There are a LOT of families that save/finance these "trips of a lifetime" for the family and can only go once.  Basically, they are already taking a trip they can't really afford and throwing away that money is not an option for them.  While Mrs. SLEZE and I are Disney nuts (as well as our brainwashed our kids), we will be waiting to go back.
