It's poorly worded, but they did bring up good points about how distilleries should have easier regs on creating sanitizer, or how rules talking to your doctor via the internet need to be updated. And I doubt you'll find many here who think non violent offenses warrant jail time.

Broken clocks find nuts on occasion.

What's that you say? Laws/ rules/ guidelines can be contingent, and they can be BOTH justified under ordinary circumstances AND worthy of suspension in an extraordinary moment?

It's as if ideas could me more ambivalent than the world of simple dichotomies that I'd like to pretend exists.

I agree. I also agree that TSA restrictions on liquids were unnecessarily restrictive and silly. But those are problems that were caused by people with money/power/influence wielding their resources to get what they wanted for themselves, which is the realization of libertarianism. Government is just another market and they were availing themselves of whatever they could afford, as is their right and liberty.

And then of course, TFA also has problems that are not actually problems, or problems that are ironically caused by too much federalism and not enough centralized national control.

But my favorite is the farking plastic bag part he throws in at the end. Of all the materials that have been tested with COVID-19, plastic allows the virus to live the longest. Being overjoyed at the return of plastic bags during this pandemic is farking insane, even if we completely ignore the environmental impact. Part of the reason why some grocery chains are prohibiting reusable bags is because many of them contain plastics.

Those are just examples of the mass-appeal issues that any cult would use as a facade to mask their deeper craziness. One moment you're talking to what seems to be a perfectly reasonable person about how messed up is it that nonviolent drug offenses like pot possession carry harsher sentences than aggravated assault, but a few weeks later you find yourself sitting in a seminar about how public health care is going to result in doctors being dragged out of their homes in the middle of the night to treat patients* and wondering how the hell you got there.
=Smidge=
*This is an actual argument used against public health care.

Microdistilleries here in the Soviet of Seattle have been doing that for over a month now, so the regulatory obstacles can't be too onerous. Seriously, I just used a handful a few minutes ago at the takeout joint where I bought a gallon of milk. The stuff is made by Heritage Distilling, the Brown Sugar Bourbon people. They've been giving it away to do is service places in the neighborhood.
