(Politico)   The Trump administration designated a Russian white supremacist group a terrorist organization and sanctioned its members. This is good, so let's not make jokes about these moves. The group's name RIM, so I guess we'll make jokes about that   (politico.com) divider line

You can say that Trump is soft on Russians, but I think he put a solid licking on RIM

"Trump and his administration have been criticized for not appearing to take the threat of white supremacism seriously, either overseas or domestically. Trump came under fire for not responding more forcefully to violence provoked by some neo-Nazi groups in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017 "

So of course they crack down on a Russian group, and not an American one. Election coming up and all, don't want to alienate any of his base.

Guessing this is a group run afoul of Putin. Not paid their dues or something.

Does this mean all of the members of that group lose their RIM jobs?

GardenWeasel: so, a rival group?

The move against the Russian Imperial Movement

Yeah, I'm guessing that they don't want Putin as Tsar

The Googles Do Nothing: No RIM-jobs allowed during the coronavirus.

I'm thinking it's more that Trump doesn't want a RIM job after being thrown out of the country.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: Guessing this is a group run afoul of Putin. Not paid their dues or something.

The check bounced.

So let me guess...indicted members of the Internet Research Agency have turned into informants, handing over names of white supremacists in exchange for the US government not following through with the charges against them.  Trump gets to pretend that he is not a white nationalist, and at some point sanctions will be lifted against the IRA.

But the American white-supremacist groups are just fine.

I honestly thought the Trump Admin branded the Blackberry company a terrorist organization.

It doesn't seem like something they seem incapable of doing at this point.

This is a joke. A terrible thinly veiled effort as it has no real implications or ramifications back here at home where white supremacy is not only a growing issue but a home grown terroristic threat.

It has the same effect as Russia banning the girl scouts from selling cookies in Russia. Except it looks cooler on paper and that's as far as it goes.

Naw, just a Russian biker gang that isn't one of Putin's pets.

So, they didn't pay their dues then?

Is it good, subby?

A Russian domestic terrorist group, one of many of them, is being targeted with embezzled US assets because they're one of a dozen or so essentially-identical Russian gangs that isn't paying off Putin.  Corruption, bribery, and the use of US assets to serve the interests of organized crime against rivals are "good" because some people you don't like get harmed in the process?

Look, I want to kick Richard Spencer in the dick as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't call someone who bulldozed an occupied orphanage, jumped out of the bulldozer, broke their fall by smashing the spine of a puppy with each foot, and gunned down a parade of nuns who were in the way so that he could get to Richard Spencer and kick him in the dick a "good thing".

D'oh.  It initially read "This is a good thing.." but then I ran out of characters, and I failed to edit it properly.
