Or he'll use this as cover to send them all down to build the wall.

Also for medical officers, including nurses, med techs, medical corpsmen, and secretary/administrators.

Disaster Medical Assistance teams, Disaster Mortuary Teams already activated. (HHS, not military)

Won't this pull medical technicians, nurses, physician assistants and doctors from their current positions? You know, working in hospitals?

Thank your hubby for me.
I was waiting for that shoe to drop. A couple of my friends were already making provisions
Luckily, this time,  this is very outside my wheelhouse.

The DMAT guys and gals are largely in private practice. They are federalized in situations like Katrina.

I used to be the Admin for his team.

Are you deployable?

Technically, yes.
Realistically, no.

That's almost like "productive". Are you sure that's what Trump is doing?

You know in those movies when a cop or someone shouts "I didn't sign up for this shiat",  it's usually exactly the kind of shiat they signed up for.

That's nice.  Now maybe call the VA into action?

The Trump Administration Is Leaving the Nation's Emergency Backup Hospital System on the Sidelines

Maybe someone could get ahold of his Mar-a-Lago buddies who "advise" him on the VA and suggest it.  Because that seems to be the only way shiat gets done in this administration.

/and yes, I know how the Reserves work.

Still too damned late. They should've already been in place setting up hospitals. I've heard there already isn't a single ICU bed in Washington state, as of at least 24 hours ago. People are dying as we speak due to lack of ventilators are trained staff to operate them.

2020-03-28 3:51:40 AM
My cousin is a doc who made Col and retired from the Army Reserves a couple of years ago.  He still hasn't retired from his civilian practice in Michigan but he just turned 65 a week ago so even though they could theoretically call him up for active duty, I think that it's not likely.

It's selfish of me to hope that he won't get called up.  But I know he'd answer the bell if they did.

Yeah, they are literal morgues, dude. Pure shiatholes that provide zero care.

My VA just completed an entire remodel of a floor to serve as overflow for Covid cases. We have the docs, the nurses and i got as much of the meds as I could. So we're ready to do our part.

But you're right, they are literal rat infested shiatholes and not at all of use to our community.

Thanks.

See, Millennials?  This is what happens when you demand that government DO SOMETHING.  It does things like conscript you, jam you into uncomfortable uniforms and send you to boot camp.  There you will be forced to exercise and do menial tasks to the satisfaction of sadistic people until your personalities are crushed and you will then be molded into automatons who follow orders.

There are no skinny jeans there.  No beards, moustache wax, personal trimmers.  Nothing is artisinal and nobody cares about feelings or anything you have to say.

Good luck.

Not sure how much use they would be. My inlaws both work for the VA hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan.
That facility has seven floors.
Only two of them are for patients, the remaining five are all 'administrative'.

There are more paper pushers and desk jockeys than medical staff at that facility.  The rot at all levels of our medical system is incredible, and leaves us all at risk.

This crisis may show us just how useless and unnecessary all those drones are and place professionals in charge again but I doubt it.

It is unlikely that you'd get one.  As I recall from my service time, you are eligible for recall for up to ten years following discharge.  I left the Navy in 1986, when Gulf War I rolled around I received a letter from DoD that I was subject to recall but was never activated.

When 9/11 happened, I did not receive a subject to recall notification.

Don't governors have a lot of authority during an emergency to convert places into makeshift hospitals?  I think vacant Trump properties would make great locations to serve the infected.

I worked with a guy who enlisted back in the 60s, retired from active duty, then retired in general and was just kicking around odd jobs to fill time when the Army called him back. don't recall what he could of knownthat they dragged a literal grandpa back into service.

Usually, you don't get that deep into the list....then again I'm always expecting a recall notice from the Army to suit up for some helicopter drops...
