"In 2077 they voted this the worst convention to attend in Amareica. Main issues? The show being canceled for 58 years. And, well, it's still in Baltimore."

You'd best start believing in cyberpunk dystopias.

You're in one.

That's what Wuhan did, built 2 temp hospitals and turned every sports stadium and other large building into triag areas/field hospitals, leaving the permanent and temporary hospitals for the more extreme cases.

It's more of a mashup of RoboCop, Running Man, and Soylent Green.

They are not temporary hospitals. The original quickly built hospital, Xiaotangshan,  that successfully treated SARS patients in 2003 and that served as the model for the 2 new COVID 19 pandemic hospitals is still operational and is used to treat COVID 19 patients.

Construction is fast because China utilizes prefabrication instead of the traditional and slow onsite construction that the west (and China mainly) relies upon. It's not because they are cutting every corner possible. Also, there is no red tape from local NIMBYs to slow down the process.

/That one hospital that collapsed was an old empty building that China converted into a temporary emergency hospital.

Fortunately, the Baltimore Convention Center already had the architectural stylings, the essential brutalist bare-bones glass-and-concrete construction, to look like a big hospital. In these times, it's just a very slight repurposing. And it's not like anyone's going to hold a convention in there now.

Baltimore hospitals are always at capacity what with all the gunshot wounds, overdoses, and syphilis complications.

/ Just kidding.

//Not really

Sensable.  It's a large building with good road access and solid utilities.  And everything scheduled to be there is long canceled.  Charm City will need more. Ed's in the weeks to come.  They might want to think about Camden yards and Raven stadium as well.

With Trump telling red states to open up and get sick, we're going to need these beds. Hopefully blue states with sane governments seal the borders from the rest of the country.

Just wait until they have to use Camden Yards, it'll be the biggest crowd that place has seen in a decade.

Every hotel should be ready to be converted into an emergency hospital. I live in a non-tourist small town, even we have hundreds, maybe thousands, of hotel rooms.

Camden Yards is missing something you'd want in a hospital.

\ A roof.
