Just like the founding fathers intended. This is what happens in a Republic that allows a lot of power to states. Welcome to the land of the free; expect when it comes to dying from CoVID-19. Crazy-expensive funeral costs. Oh well.

What is the competition for? What group does the Fed gov support that wouldn't also fall under the states? Military, sure, but is that everything?

I'm probably missing some simple detail.

I dunno man, Florida has gotten everything they wanted and more from the Fed. California? Well, they voted for socialist DemocRATs and so have to be shown what socialism' like by only getting 8% of what they say they need.

The test is an RT-PCR.  There are hundreds of medical sites run by academic (and private) hospitals already set up already running RT-PCRs on all sorts of other viruses.  Not run by labcorp, not run by quest, run by the hospitals.  Literally the only thing any of these hospitals need to adapt what they are already doing with influenza and other viruses are one or two DNA sequences, something like 25-30 letters long each.  Then you go onto IDTDNA.com or something like that, and order them.  It's like $50-$100 for basically an infinite supply.  You do the same f*cking swab as before, the same RT-PCR reaction as before, just with different primers.  You can fit all the info needed to change your influenza RT-PCR into a coronavirus test in a f*cking single tweet.

I know conspiracies are fun and all but did you miss the part where hospitals are already doing this and many already have their own in house test?

/tldr - maybe don't throw all your money in Quest stock

lennavan: I know conspiracies are fun and all but did you miss the part where hospitals are already doing this and many already have their own in house test?

Your reading comprehension fails epically dude:

lennavan: process tests?

Yes, there are THOUSANDS of sites to GET a test. But there are only so many labs that can PROCESS them. Only three companies in the US are currently allowed to do so. This is why there is such a wait time to get results.

If you are actually suggesting that hospitals have developed and are running their own covid tests, then I suspect the FDA would like a word. Also CITATION FARKING NEEDED.

I didn't know his stock allocation. I'm hardly surprised. However, Quest and Labcorp are both big names in testing. It isn't an unreasonable allocation of test processing.

/Labcorp handles almost all of the bloodwork at my GP, through an in-house testing site
//Hospital handles all of the bloodwork at my hematologist

The Detroit News had an editorial yesterday, where the writer was complaining about Governor Whitmer banning retailers from price gouging to protect the citizens, the columnist was sad that the governor was interfering with "natural supply and demand" WHICH WILL CAUSE EVEN MORE EMPTY SHELVES!!1!.

"Some executive orders have seemed unnecessarily intrusive. For instance, Whitmer has banned retailers from "price gouging" to protect citizens. Attorney General Dana Nessel is on the case. Yet by fighting natural supply and demand, the administration may inadvertently be exacerbating the panic buying that has emptied shelves."

Get a test means jam a swab far back in your nose.
Process means take the swab, extract the DNA and run the RT-PCR.

Now armed with that information.  Re-read my comment and recognize how dumb your post was.  Feel bad about yourself.  Apologize for spreading your dumb.  Then we'll be cool.  Deal?

This week, Meridian Health announced it started testing for COVID-19 and processing lab results from within their own facilities, eliminating the need for test samples to be sent to outside laboratories.

It's not false info if that's the case in my state. I will concede that the information may be inaccurate on a hospital-by-hospital basis, particularly in other states.
