Did you know that ostriches don't actually stick their head in the sand. That's a myth. No idea why that fact popped into my head.

Funny since that was the federal response, too.

If someone tells you to call a hotline you've already talked to, use their speakerphone or set up a conference call right there and then. Let the two agencies talk to each other until they can sort out a consistent answer.

The linked article from Tuesday in TFA is farking terrifying as well:

"I have had several doctors ask for me to be tested, but we have been unable to get permission for me to be tested," she said.

A nurse with symptoms wasn't allowed to get tested.

Why is Verizon giving advice about 3-ways?

Obviously, a REAL hill woman would have shot her man in the head and buried him out back  rather than make a spectacle of herself and her husband at the hospital---and make hill people look bad to boot.

After all, hill people deal with their own problems. Only city folk expect other people to help them.

Besides, only city folk get China virus. No Chinese in the hills, and that's fine by hill folk.

Considering we don't try the big boys (US, Russia, China, etc) w/ war crimes, like, ever, and instead go after the small timers (former Yugoslavia, Africa, etc), charging the governor of West Virginia w/ war crimes is actually a good analogy.

NY: Starts 10,000 tests per day to identify people not showing symptoms to enable isolation to halt spread. Gets shiat on from Trump for doing a terrible job because your numbers get worse because you're actually looking for cases.

WV: Can't have confirmed cases if you don't run tests! POTUS gives you a shoutout!

This is like a farking "how to" of why things go to shiat when management punishes people for telling them bad news. It's a farking recipe for disaster in companies and countries alike. We used to laugh at the Soviets for this, and now we have half the country cheering on the same idiocy here.

This happening around here in Indiana as well. The state will only approve testing if the person had been in contact with someone else who tested positive. It doesn't matter how much the doctors plead. This is an idiotic game we are playing.

Florida and South Carolina keeping the beaches open for Spring Breakers is going to fark over the whole country as those people go home.

This should have been 2-3 weeks of social distancing and the curve would have flattened out. Thanks to so much of the country half-assing things, it'll be more like 4-6 weeks. A probably very ugly 4-6 weeks.

We watched it unfold through most of the entire previous century.  And the cult of Stalin *became* a cult of reality, because they couldn't be seen as inferior to their enemies.  I didn't predict this situation in WV, but it now feels utterly predictable

FFS. I'd love to see total media saturation on how the trump administration has turned a public health issue into gaslighting their citizenry. About five solid days of headlines blaring the facts and calling out trump on his lies. Everywhere else in the world the pandemic is being managed appropriately and prudently, but in the USA it'spropaganda, disinformation, and lies.

jaytkay: I wouldn't touch beef that ranchers were testing to get around the USDA.

The USDA randomly tests about 1% of cattle. Creekstone Farms wanted to test 100% of their cattle.

The USDA position was that allowing any meatpacking company to test every cow would undermine the agency's official position, a position that holds to random testing as a scientifically adequate measure to assure safety.

Good. I hope it leaves a mountain of dead bodies so big they have to burn the pile of rotting flesh like a tire pile that burns for 500 years fueled on all the accumulated fat and cholesterol and the sound of grandmas popping porcine tissue makes the grand kids remember how grandma did this because she was lead astray by conmen who used her for power, and finally purge this country of it's dead farking weight.

As for the story, I empathize, but I don't really care. This is nothing new for someone in a crisis situation with no health care. No one to turn to, no one feeding you proper information because they can't be bothered. Why should I give a shiat about your story? It's nothing new.

It isn't a game. They don't have enough supplies. We are fuqed.

Washington Post - March 21, 2019 - "Health officials in New York, California and other hard-hit parts of the country are restricting coronavirus testing to health care workers and the severely ill, saying the battle to contain the virus is lost and the country is moving into a new phase of the pandemic response.

"...Instead of encouraging broad testing of the public, they're focused on conserving masks, ventilators and intensive care beds - and on getting still-limited tests to health-care workers and the most vulnerable. The shift is further evidence that rising levels of infection and illness have begun to overwhelm the health care system."

USDA position was If they test all of them they're bound to find some that are positive and will ruin the value of all exports and crash the value of the involved companies so they wanted to hide it just like trump slow played this to protect the stock market for a few more days.
