(News 5 Cleveland)   So it's the first weekend where a large portion of the USA is under shelter in place orders. How is everyone spending their Friday night? Subby is 5 fingers into his bourbon and watching Animaniacs with the kids before bedtime. You?   (news5cleveland.com) divider line

Ours are currently running around outside with the Nerf guns we got today. Long day... the morning was spent doing their schoolwork, afternoon was a roadtrip along the lower Columbia, and now it's "run yourselves ragged" time before dinner and our usual Friday night cheesy 80s videos.

/Hopefully followed by a long night of unbroken sleep.
//Please?
///Which reminds me... time to make the donuts dinner.

Going to work tomorrow because "essential". Dealing with clients 70+ who insist on going out for bullshiat reasons. Dealing with clients laughing at us for asking them to take the simplest precautions.

One guy told me devil worshippers are responsible and the proof is in Hillary's emails that proves this is a hoax. I have to deal with people who don't believe this is a real thing and therefore are not taking any measures to protect themselves or me.

One of my coworkers has been out for a week, has had a fever this whole time and still can't get tested for Covid.

I'm freaking pissed. I'm worried I'm going to get sick. I was asked to postpone my vacation I'm taking next week because people are dropping like flies. I told them no because I plan on locking myself in my house and hopefully maybe a tornado will show up in new Jersey and take me and my house away to a place where the government gives a farking shiat and people aren't brainwashed idiots that are endangering me and my family.

I"m currently sitting in my car at a local park, killing time until I feel it's safe to go home with the things I bought while shopping today.  There are a few people walking their dogs. The petting zoo is closed  but the barn is open  and I can see a cow and two  horses. No goats in sight. No llamas, either. They must be in the  barn

I finally got some bananas (after four unsuccessful attempts last weekend)
Yay. Still no potatoes.

I'm at home getting messages from coworkers about the people who are out sick or are believed to already have tested positive for CoVID-19.  At the same time, I'm reading about the Peace Corps basically being dismantled and the motherfarkers were getting intelligence reports in January about how bad this shiat was going to be.

If it wasn't for the Xyzal that I've been taking for 2 weeks to keep my allergies at bay and avoid looking/sounding sick at work, I would probably be suffering alcohol poisoning right now.

Good on you for doing that, good on your mom for staying inside. I know it's tough for the elderly to be housebound. It's a death sentence for some, but it's so much worse outside right now. It's so frustrating to see these old folks come in and scoff at us for trying to keep distance or take offense to us wiping everything down after them but it's for their protection and ours.

We have this one customer who comes in EVERY DAY to check his balance. We can see his transaction history when we do this and can see that he's been to 4 large retailers and the groceryv store every day this week. But what can we do?

It's heartbreaking. This whole week has felt like we're mourning people who haven't died yet. And not knowing if we're carrying this virus to them is just tearing me apart.

I had to go to Target to pick up a prescription for myself, got bananas, carrots, and applesauce at a nearby grocery store for Mom, and went to CVS to buy eye ointment for her. She has a severe dry eye condition caused by Sjogren's syndrome. I ordered several of the daytime ointments she uses online, but the nighttime ointments were out of stock on all of the websites I checked. Luckily, I found some at CVS.

I'm thinking of digging out my sewing machine...got the "pattern" online and have some appropriate fabric and some elastic already on hand to make some masks for the medical community.   I gave up my office/sewing room for my granddaughter when she moved in.   She has physically left the building, but a lot of her stuff is still here.  So I'll have to dig out the fabric from storage downstairs and launder it, then find a place to set up the machine.

All that will take longer than the actual sewing.

I'd actually been vaguely interested in Curiosity Stream.  Like I wanted to know more about it.  I'm sure there's a word for that or something.

Anyway I am sitting here behind my desk, regretting my decision to take advantage of my forced isolation brought on by both plague and badly sprained ankle to cut back on my drinking.  I'll probably break down and order another shipment of booze, but not tonight at least.  I may be bored and in pain but at least my liver is getting a night off.

Meanwhile, Steam is telling me that Black Mesa is still installing.  Staring at it does not seem to make it go any faster. I guess I'll find out what CuriosityStream has.

Working.  Slowly.  Kid dentist who checked out my abscessed tooth had never heard of Toradol, offered Tylenol #3 instead.  Can't fault her for not prescribing something she wasn't familiar with, and a slight buzz is better than the pain, but it's still frustrating.  At least It's dealt with before the shiat really hits the fan.  This is the kind of job security I could really do without.

Yep.  The black-box warning is impressive.  But as a quick way to knock down both inflammation and pain before switching to a safer long-term alternative, it's a wonder drug.  And right now, that's what I need more than straight pain relief.  As long as the amoxicillin works, though, I should be back up to speed in a day or two.

I've mostly taken it easy today and split my time between watching Community and playing video games. I will probably ride out the night with some Resident Evil 7. At least there I can actually shoot a virus. Spent a little bit of time today looking at the possibility of either putting my two photo ebooks on Kindle Unlimited or maybe combining them into a deluxe edition and putting that on there. I'm not really sure what Amazon's policy is on that since you get paid per page read that way and pictures take a lot less time to flip through than text, but also have a much larger file size. Will probably spend the weekend looking into that and then maybe start putting something together next week if it's an option.

common sense is an oxymoron: eurotrader: common sense is an oxymoron: Working.

Toradal while a wonderful non narcotic pain reliver it is really hard on some organs and the Dentist playing dumb may be  the easiest option. Rules about how often toradal should be used.

One of the reason I hate changing GPs. I need want 6 Halcion a year, I don't want something to help me sleep on a long plane ride I simply want something that will make sleep with a double vodka.

Edibles, Baby.

No.  I dont like them.

Unfortunately, they don't work at all on me. I bought a pack of gummies and tried just one, being very careful because they'd told me about the delayed effect. I waited and waited and nothing.

Next time, I ate two, then three, then the entire package. Nothing.

So, it's flower for me. Heading out tomorrow for curb-side service at my dispensary. I need my nerve pain meds.

Lorelle: I"m currently sitting in my car at a local park, killing time until I feel it's safe to go home with the things I bought while shopping today.

Why do you have to wait until it's safe? Is someone following you home? Do you have your phone handy?

Edibles are made for a reason. Plus simply making the butter is oddly calming.

I dont like edibles, they just give me headaches.  I stocked up on bud, but then my allergies kicked in.  So it waits for me, calling my name...smelling soooo good.

Make tea.  It might work.

THC and other goodies in cannabis are only fat soluble. You have to cook the pot in some kind of fat, usually butter, to get the good stuff to release, then use the butter to make something like brownies. You can put pot in hot water and make some kind of yucky flavored water, but it won't have any effects.

Hint: if you were having a stroke in my town and called 911, I'd be taking you to the hospital.

I'm pretty good at finishing a piece, as in, finishing the stitching. As for putting it into a frame or making it into something, ugh. Takes me forever to get around to it. I did learn to lace and frame, though, so I don't have to pay an arm and a leg to have someone else do it.

Brosephus: I'm at home getting messages from coworkers about the people who are out sick or are believed to already have tested positive for CoVID-19.

I've had weed tea, about the same effect as a small glass of wine.  Sachet of leaves, needed steeping for about 5 minutes.

I think if it was prepared like Japanese matcha tea, where the plant matter is powdered, you'd get more of an effect, because you ingest the whole thing.

After 3 years of making our daughter's liver medicine compound, without warning and with 1 day's supply left, our Walgreens said they aren't a compounding pharmacy. Claim it was always the policy. My wife has been arguing with them for a day and a half and they claim it will be ready in the morning. I am skeptical. This is not going to be a fun rest of my life.

My wife and I are going through Thrifting Withdrawal.  So I took a shopping tour through Repo Man instead as I drank.  I didn't want to do the obvious, Jeffersons, Bewitched, Dick van Dyke, etc.  It was kind of depressing to see how little LA has changed in 35 years.

That at 6 x 7.4 abv beers might let me sleep tonight.

Tomorrow night I'll probably continue an Alex Cox marathon and go with Sid & Nancy or Straight to Hell.  I have Repo Chick, but never bothered watching it.  Probably should do that too at some point.

Just finished up a video cocktail hour (that turned into 2 1/2) with some friends. Got a pretty good buzz on drinking Irish red ale out of the kegerator. Kids and wife are sleeping. Not much of a gamer, but I'm sick of getting my ass kicked by my 9  year old daughter in Mario Kart 8 on the Switch, so I may go practice a bit.

Mmmmmm. That looks good.

My specialty is key lime cheesecake. I like dense and creamy cheesecake, not fluffy and airy, but I live at 7,000 feet. It took a lot of trial and error to learn how to make a dense cheesecake at altitude. I use the paddle on the Kitchen-Aid to cream the sugar and cream cheese, but I have to break up the eggs and mix them very carefully with a fork. Then I fold the eggs and the lime juice very carefully so I don't get any bubbles in the mix. A small bubble in the bottom of the pan turns into a huge bubble or San Andreas Faultlines when they get to the surface. It's also a drier climate here, so I don't bother with a bain marie and trying to line the spring pan with foil because it ALWAYS leaks. I put 4 roasting pans full of hot water on the bottom rack in the oven to keep it moist.

If this sounds like a lot of anal-retentive steps to get a good cheesecake, it is. I don't know anybody else up here who can make one that doesn't develop crevasses and bubbles and is still nice and creamy. I've never tried a chocolate cheesecake, and I've never done a ganache. You've inspired me to expand my repertoire.
