"I don't know what happened to his political career thereafter, but he did the right thing."

He's still the mayor in Jaw 2.  Go figure.

I thought it would be Quint, since Quint thought that he could fix problems without anyone else's help, and was openly disdainful of others.

More significantly, he was married to Mrs. Robinson. Giggity.

Does he also think that a certain dark lord from the Lord of the Rings was framed?

Ha! Just listened to an old episode of The Rewatchables and one of the guys there was talking about how he'd run Mayor Larry Vaughn's campaign to stay in office. Also learned that Robert Shaw was a real prick to Richard Dreyfuss.

That's what I thought but we went through the looking glass years ago so I don't know anymore.

Isn't they mayor from Jaws an irresponsible asshole who refused to close the beaches even as people were attacked?  Am I remembering wrong?

In the book, the main reason he kept the beaches open was he was deep in hock to the mob and needed the summer revenue to pay them off.

So who's Boris in debt with?

Nope. Right-wing toolbags are blasphemous ignoramuses who are in a constant battle to replace right with wrong no matter where they live.

For approximately the millionth time in the last four years I think: this can't be real?

I think the last four years have done more to advance the cause of psychedelic drugs more than Timothy Leary ever dreamed of.  If reality is already this farked up, a little dab of LSD ain't gonna make things worse.  Plus: unicorns!

I will say that Andy Garcia saying quietly and threateningly " Never compare me to the mayor in Jaws! Never! "  was by far the funniest line in the 2016 Ghostbusters.
