Conservative Media: "The corona virus is all left-wing hype and no worse than the flu."
Right-winger: "I can't believe all this left-wing hype over that virus that's no worse than the flu.  I'm saying this to everyone I come into contact with!"

(some time later)

Conservative Media: "Ok, there is cause to be concerned about the corona virus."
Right-winger: "I'm going to buy toilet paper.  Trump is awesome!"

Actually no.  I also have problems with reading comprehension. (joke, although I didn't realize what you were saying so not a joke?)

February 22, 2020: How the Coronavirus Revealed Authoritarianism's Fatal Flaw: China's use of surveillance and censorship makes it harder for Xi Jinping to know what's going on in his own country.

China's early response was, much like ours, the SNAFU Principle writ large: True communication is possible only between equals, because inferiors are more consistently rewarded for telling their superiors pleasant lies than for telling the truth.

The difference between the two countries' response plans is that Xi has learned from his mistakes.

Dear Leader has not, because he cannot learn from his mistakes, because he believes he cannot make mistakes, and none of his advisors are willing to tell him that he has made mistakes, because the advice would only be rejected and they would cease to be his advisors.

Those at the top of the Pyramid have the burden of omniscience - they must have a complete picture of the facts in order to make informed decisions. Yet they find themselves in a position to know nothing because their underlings are compelled to lie to them in order to keep their jobs.

Those at the bottom of the Pyramid have the burden of nescience - they must pretend to know nothing in order to their jobs without being fired for speaking truth to power. Yet they find themselves absorbing facts on the ground because they're the only ones on the front lines every day actually dealing with reality.

It's because right wingers and "conservatives" are the mortal enemies of humanity. They're a death cult, an evil, shiatty, trashy, tasteless, unwashed, cousin-farking death cult.

Having been pretty much surrounded by conservatives all my life, I can finger that as the pretty much default "conservative smugface", that's used by conservatives when they're totally sure they're stigginit to the libs. It is, indeed, the world's single most punchable expression.

This is good. It's a nice summation of an effect I've been aware of but unable to really articulate clearly. I had this issue with my old boss, who was a narcissist with signs of age related mental decline (no access to happy pills/powders though, so not exactly like Trump).  He could not accept that there was any fact known to another person which was not already known by him, among other things. The only way significant progress was made was by doing a task and then telling him more or less "I knew you'd want that taken care of so I went ahead and did it so you can focus your valuable time and expertise on more serious matters."  Needless to say he was completely blindsided when every single employee with stock in the company went to the major investor and insisted he be fired as CEO.  It simply hadn't occurred to him that anyone might not think him a very stable genius.

I don't think you have to be any level but I do suggest that you don't do it (make corrections) often and you're clear about what needs fixin'.  And saying please and thank you is also a good thing.  That's been my experience.  Most of mine are one word fixes as well.  It helps when you make it easy, which is true in most of life.
