Now was the time to go to the Biden campaign and see what you can get from them with regards to policies.

But nope. Why do that when you can keep on doing something that is doomed to failure.

I see Bernie is taking the Roger Smith route

"We may not be winners, but we can be spoilers. History is filled with losers who never won anything themselves, but who ruin the success of others. Ralph Nader, Judas, that kid who pulled scissors on me at the Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament last year. Stabbed me bad in the parking lot. Ruined my concentration for the whole tourney. Anyway, if we beat Smith's team, it won't save our season, but it will spoil theirs! Now, what do you say? Let's go out there and spoil!"

I believe he wants to go to the debate to make a case for universal healthcare and its benefits.  Doing that now while there's an obviously incompetent response to an actual epidemic is a good strategy and he is probably using his spotlight to help push the initiative.

Does Bernie want Trump for a second term? Because this is how you get Trump for a second term.

Bernie's political presidential dreams may be dead, but in its death he will activate his Bernie Bros sleep agents.

They will quietly build up local and state campaigns by doing nothing until they're 30 and realize the world is a cold harsh place and those college ideologies about making the world fair for all was just a means to sound naively intellectual and to get laid by some poli sci major.

Bernie slapped Biden with the gauntlet and warned his fragile mind of the topics Sanders will want to cover in a format that is a lot longer than 7 minutes.

I liked how he brought up that "sure, we have fewer delegates, and yeah, we got fewer votes, but exit polls showed that young people like me".

Unless the election is suddenly held on Twitter and Facebook, I'm not sure he understands how elections work.

I'd like to believe that as well. And that would make sense to promote the clear and obvious benefits.

More likely he's going to bash Biden over the head with it and try to use it as a cudgel, neatly getting everyone all angered up.

If you have to have a press conference saying your still in the race it's over.

Bernie should stop his numbers are worse then 2016. All that he can do now is hurt Biden for the general election against Trump.

The past 3 years have been an experiment: Can a spoiled, unstable, narcissistic, bloviating, immature, selfish, self-pitying, overweight, vain, deliberately obtuse, racist, man-baby take the reins as President of the United States.
The results haven't been good. It's been a new example of chaos every day.

As such, people don't want to take a chance on another "experiment" with Bernie. While he possesses none of the above qualities, they have had enough uncertainty.

Maybe after Biden we can experiment. Now people just want things to get back to normal.

Before the debates, Bernie was doing well with 30% of Democrats.
After one debate, Bernie was doing well with 30% of Democrats.
After five debates, Bernie was doing well with 30% of Democrats.
After ten debates, Bernie was doing well with 30% of Democrats.
But this debate number 11 will change everything. Look out, Biden!

At this point it's two old, white men. I REALLY wish a woman or person of color (other than bleached lillies) had made it to this point.

That being said, I will vote for whichever codger gets the nomination. Not to be smug but because if we've got to have an old white man in the white house (perverse poetry, indeed) if rather not have a syphilitic sociopath surrounded by sycophants while sucking Siberian schlong at our expense.

If he focuses on the current state of healthcare and the incompetent response by the Trump folks this actually could work well.  If he's *really* smart he'll reach out of Biden before the debate and see if he can get Biden to make some concessions on some key points during it, gang up on Trump with Biden, then drop out after he gets crushed on Tuesday.  He gets to go out as a guy who made a difference in the Democratic platform, concentrating on the real problem of removing Trump and working within the team to keep progressive goals in focus.

I can hope

It's going to take a lot more than just Biden.  Like consistent Democratic presidencies for at least 32 years.

Everything he said in that press conference today sounds 100% rational. Could be a regular German politician off the mill. What's there not to like? If that's socialism, you need your political spectrum recalibrated.

Here's the thing. EVERY Democrat is in favor of universal healthcare and offered a plan to get us there. Some even called for single payer.

The only thing that set Sanders apart is he also wanted to ban all private insurance, which is something no other country on earth does.

The fact that Sanders' team was so completely dishonest about those two facts says to me that they don't actually care about helping the poor get healthcare, they just wanted a weapon to bash his opponents with (see also: Black support.) And after spending his entire career calling for a public option, attacking others for wanting it now is the height of hypocrisy.

He's selfish, hypocritical, and inconsistent. Literally every positive thing his supporters said about him is a lie, and every attack they made on others was projection.

Chillax, Democrats. Bernie staying in the race won't hurt anything this year. May even help.

Article also makes the interesting point about the debate. It gives Biden the opportunity to put these claims about his "cognitive decline" to rest.

"Let's get back to normal" isn't a winning sentiment, because "normal" doesn't necessarily mean "good".
