Wonder if that was / is true.
Wonder if he was female he'd gotten less than a life sentence.

found love with a wonderful young lady

.
I wouldn't have guessed that he married a woman, in light of the enormous gay vibe that surrounded his and his daddy's crime spree.

I'm sure the lucky lady's parents must be ecstatic, and are planning a lavish ceremony. What a joy it is to see young love bloom. The life they'll have together!

There's a podcast, "You're Wrong About," that did a series on this case. It's worth listening to. According to it, John Allen Mohammad was killing these people  so that when he killed his real target, his ex-wife, it would look like she was just another random victim. It's quite amazing the depravity that can exist in the world.

Damn.  I thought he would be off the market because they executed him.

Agreed. It's 2020. He should feel empowered to find a male mate.

I'm a bit surprised that you can marry someone and keep their identity secret.  After all, you have to file paperwork, get a marriage license, etc.  Wouldn't someone from the media be able to file an opens records request?  Does Freedom of Information Act cover that information?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elmer_Wayne_Henley

Elmer Wayne Henley was the teenaged accomplice of Dean Corll. He has been serving six consecutive life sentences since 1973, despite having shot and killed Dean Corll and brought their crimes to light.

He was Malvo before Malvo.

Almost unfathomable to me that this was nearly 20 years ago. Would someone even ten years younger than me even halfway remember this? I happened to be traveling in the vicinity right when they were still on the loose so I remember vividly.

Nobody does that much work for a story any more. They just scan Twitter and Facebook for story leads.

Not wanting to minimize the damage inflicted upon victims, but Malvo was a severely abused child who had spent 1/3rd of his life totally dependent upon the aegis of the mastermind of the killing spree, which he participated in under threat of violence and abandonment.  If ever there was a diminished capacity case to be made for the defendant revolving around long term physical and psychological abuse, this is it.

This is mostly true insofar as the DC area did fark-all to finally capture them... and actually hurt the cause by having everyone watch out for the exact wrong kind of vehicle. Authorities in Washington State ultimately identified the suspect and then a sharp-eyed hero from Pennsylvania clocked their car in Frederick, Maryland.

None of that stopped Charles Moose from painting himself as some sort of hero just for crying on tv, and then cashing out of his job with a book deal. Probably feels pretty nice to have made some dough from a serial killer's success.

the day they were apprehended was very stressful.  i was one of a group of state employees who were in the rest area as part of the response.  taken without incident, but man, the number of responders was staggering.  i was later part of the response to to the "anthrax pond" in the Frederick Watershed to keep the yellow orchid from being trampled.

2002-2003 was a wild time in Frederick County.

Abandoned by his parents to the care of a psychopath at age 13-14 who spent the next three years grooming and training and abusing him, he never had a chance. Sounds like he already had a screw loose though from childhood, but he wouldn't have ever done something like this unless he came into the orbit of an adult like Muhammad.

Lee Boyd Malvo was 17 at the time, and sentenced to life. The older guy, John Allen Muhammad, was executed in 2009, 7 years after the murder spree.

I don't care about his childhood.  He was willing to murder random people.

It doesn't matter why he did it, or why he thought it was okay.  It doesn't matter if he enjoyed it or if he hated it.

What matters is that those people are dead and it's his fault. If he hadn't gotten caught, he would have killed more people.

Fark him, he should never be free.  People like you care more about his feelings than about the people he killed.
