One amusing part of this is that the never-Trumpers didn't attend CPAC this year. They had their own conference in another part of the city. Whether there was crossover (there probably was) is unknown, but I love the idea that Trump humpers might get sick because they were there kissing his ass while the never-Trumpers won't get sick because they've stuck to their principles.

HerptheDerp: Since Republicans never think something is needed by society until it happens to THEM, I can't help but find this pandemic rather... poetic in a grim fashion.

"Grim" is right.  I have older siblings, who once were young, and wanted...I don't know...the world?  Anyway, I remember them in their early 20s, in bell bottoms and flip hairstyles, as they went off to change the world and make it a better place.  And now, they are Trumpers????

I can't wrap my head around it, and I'm a Boomer, too.  The only thing I can think of, is that I didn't stay sequestered in a one horse town, in a one horse state.  I travelled, met people from all over the world, and I learned that we're all the same.  All of us.  What separates us, no matter where we are, is ignorance, and the divide and conquer tactics used by the rich.

Good thing you get paid for staying home. Most of the people I know don't have that choice. It's either work to eat, or stay home and starve. Good thing they're only in the service industry.

On the one hand, it is a horrible thought, people losing loved ones (and don't forget that the physician who was sounding the alarm in China early on, Dr. Li Wenliang, died from it, he was just 34.)

On the other hand, this may be a wake-up call for millions of Americans who haven't given a shiat about the people serving their food, cleaning their hotels, and on and on, that our healthcare system is barbaric.

That great line in Easy Rider where they're done, they complete their mission and Hoppee says: "we're rich let's retire to Florida  - that's what you do, right?". So prescient. In one line.

It's a little in-the-nose for a global pandemic in which millions will likely die.
