I was just at PaxEast last week. One good thing about this virus is that it's got people actually washing their hands like their lives depend on it.

And all of it is pointless when you have to touch a door knob to get out.

Really? shiat. I always thought it was best to air dry.  I never use towels or paper towel only because I thought it was cleaner that way.

So you open the doorknob with the paper towel in your hand (the towel covering your hand) and hold the door open with a foot while throwing it in the trash can, if by the door. If there isn't a trash can close to the door, throw out elsewhere.

I thought this was common sense.

Also some doors have a foot pedal or handle to open it hands-free (this I don't see as often).

Just don't use your hands to open the door

Wash, dry, then sanitize. Carry a handkerchief or a shop towel with you, and use that when handling doorknobs, latches, faucets, etc., etc. Keep hand sanitizer nearby, and use it when you're not sure of what you're handling.

Bacteria and molds generally love a damp environment.Paper towels are more sanitary than blowers. I don't have anything specific to back it up, but towels themselves need to be washed often if you use them, they stay damp so they likely harbor microbes if you're not washing them often.

I meant to link that whole episode but couldn't find it on Youtube. They followed up with a hand dryer test vs towel. All I could find was a link condensing the episode on Mythbusters' Facebook page:

Last time I heard of this it was a study paid for by a paper towel maker. What is important is getting your hands dry.

Maybe, but Mythbusters also suggested it to be the case. They didn't write a paper about it though, just did an episode with it as a topic.
