They might not have "voted," subby, but they posted lots of memes on Facebook and Instagram and what you have to understand about our modern culture is that a good meme posted at the correct moment wins you many, many more points than "voting," which is something Boomers created and is every bit as old and stale as they are.

Like Homer Said, "oh no we got baked and flaked on the date!"

Biden may not be the best, but at least I know his coalition shows up and votes.  Win or lose they go down voting.

Berne's coalition and his vaunted ground game evaporated.

Hell Bernie should be thanking Bloomberg tonight--if he had bailed like has campaign manager told him to--Bernie would have got run over by the Trans-am not just side swiped.

It's nice to be reminded that young people don't vote.  Especially when that reminder saves us from a Bernie vs Trump election.

Can't wait to see what nursing homes your kids can afford to put you in.

I was at a show last night in Cambridge, MA and there was a group of people in their early-mid 20s in front of us and a girl mentioned that it was Super Tuesday and the 3-4 dudes who were in the group all made comments along the line of "oh shiat, that was today??" and then asked who was in the lead and were shocked that it was Biden. Go figure.

Meh, turnout was up from 2016, that's all that matters in the end.

Nah, this is a factual thing.

The fallout of this however will be EPIC. Every thread about the election from here on whenever someone points out anything going against Sanders the immediate and overwhelming response will be to point out the low turnout. That is when the poo flinging will begin in earnest.

The yunguns don't get that if you can't win the primary, you are unlikely to win the general election. Of course they also seem to believe that the President can just declare universal health care. I guess I can see where they would get that idea after this administration.

It didn't evaporate, it was largely vapor to begin with.

It's also hard to understate how completely Sanders was outmaneuvered. Biden won states he didn't even campaign in, sometimes (like Virginia) crushingly so. Biden had one field office in VA and was outspent 6-1 by Sanders, and still managed 53% of the vote.

It's more likely that the presence of any group you see online does not directly translate to real world presence. So the young people complaining probably did vote but they don't actually represent young voters.

The bright spot for me is voters coming together and giving Bloomberg the finger.

Biden has to do what ThrillDog didn't: use other people to boost his campaign.

Bernie's problem is that he even farked up that chance.

Also, we should be keeping our eye on the ball here. Everything is being done to make it harder to vote and the GOP knows this works on young people. Make them wait in line for 2 hours? Faaaark that, no way dude, I got shiat to do.

It farking works and we suck for blaming the youngs for it.

one of the tragedies in this country is that so many don't actually get off their ass and vote. I know people who post memes and other useless b.s. all over about "the revolution of young voters"...and yet when I asked...not one went out yesterday for the primaries. Ugh

Maybe after watching the Democratic Party fark Sanders for the 2nd time, they realized there's really not much difference between Dems and republicans.

And the lemmings will keep voting for these same career politicians no matter what, so pretty much farked anyway?

I think a legitimate question to ask is why Bernie is having trouble getting the young people to vote while Obama was able to do it with no problem?

I'm actually surprised that the youth vote isn't higher simply because Bernie is on the ticket.

Bernie's camp may not show up, but at least they're not going to die from COVID-19 like Biden's old coalition will thanks to Trump's stellar response to this virus.

it's kind of ironic that Sanders is indeed inspiring record turnout, just not in the way he expected.

As a young person who votes (well, was a young person. Now in the 30-45 age bracket....) I came out and voted for Warren, because we need progressive policies from a wonk who knows what she's talking about.

Yinz disappointed me yesterday. Especially you, Massachusetts. She's your own senator. Joe didn't even campaign in the state! *Grumble*

If only some presidential election where the most progressive candidate was shut out in the primary in favor of the donors' pick had happened recently.

Younger voters are notoriously unreliable.

That may or may not have anything to do with Sanders and his platform.  But it is a problem if you're relying on that bloc.

NeoCortex42: Don't complain about not having a voice in politics if you choose to keep your mouth shut on election day.

Not voting is also a voice... seriously. It used to make sense to shame people about not voting, and therefor negating their opinion... but that really is no longer true. Hate the idea as much as you want, the fact remains that when a potential voter sees no reason to get off their ass and pull a lever for a candidate they made their choice. They voted to not vote.

Conversely, you get a voter motivated to vote against an evil dipshiat, like Trump.... that's a whole other story. That's when patriotic duty comes in... that's a step above civic duty, and one I just dreamed up.

Agreed, but the constant refrain from many berners here is that the number of progressives is actually some kind of silent majority that's never had a chance to speak.

If/when Bernie loses, I hope they will acknowledge that either there are a lot less of us progressives than they think, or progressives suck at showing up to vote.
