Bloomberg received the endorsement of Samoan Chief Fa'alagiga Nina Tua'au-Glaude ahead of Super Tuesday.

That explains it. Fa'alagiga Nina Tua'au-Glaude is the Jim Clyburn of American Samoa.

Might have been cheaper had he just bought everyone in American Samoa a McDonald's franchise.

only because it was just girl scout cookie season!

they're saying tulsi may have gained her first delegate there too...

Bloomberg spent $500 mil to this point. If he can't win an island in the South Pacific Ocean, then what hope is there for the rest of us?

He could have had Staten Island for half of what he's spent on the race so far. I mean, no one else wants it.

That works out to only like 4 pieces of junk mail and 3 robo calls per voter.

I think they got off light here.

His goal now? To hold enough delegates to leverage. He has little chance to win; he knows that. He wants control, not ownership. If he can dictate who comes up next, ideally with himself as VP, well, that's his idea of a win.

Should be fun to watch.

2020-03-03 9:59:24 PM
He has SEVEN full time campaign staffers there and got a total of 175 votes.  So, about half of his votes were probably from the immediate friends and family of his staff.

He doesn't want a VP spot. No one with his ego would. Control of the candidate and favors owed are plenty for him to protect his interests.

I'd agree, except that he's a control freak - he's not going to trust whoever takes the role with protecting his dough, so he's going to want his hooks in there somehow. I'd gone with the VP slot; maybe something else would occur.

I think it was like Bloomberg got 175 votes, Tulsi 100, Biden 4 or something.  It's like the same amount as a voting precinct in rural Wyoming.

That, and there's a surprisingly high amount of homophobia in the Pacific islands.

I don't think that played a factor at all. Imagine a race for school board- one guy spends $50,000 on the race. One woman is Latina in a 97% Latino precinct. One guy's just the guy who's kinda on every local ballot in one race or another, one lady is the school librarian, and one kid's young, enthusiastic, and gay.

If the first two people get over 80% of the vote, where does homophobia factor in?
