It's far more likely that the poor will be blamed for it all because they'll be the hardest hit, and the loss of their job will thought of as divine justice of some sort.

Going to work sick is an American tradition. You can't work yourself to death if you don't work while poorly!

Most employers can't be farked to give free coffee. I'm pretty sure we'll get paid sick leave when Hauptsturmführer Bernie Sanders claws it out of the burning corpse of the bourgeoisie.

all american workers have paid sick leave.

its just most american workers arent "workers" they're "contractors" or "part time" or "as needed" or any of a million other loopholes.

and out of the ones that are actual full time employees most of them only have "sick time" in the sense that its all pooled together and they have to use all their vacation first before they can touch sick time.  and then after burning all your vacation for the entire year you can use sick time and FMLA.

Even if all the red states economies were to go tits up because of the quarantines, if most of em lost their house and everything else... even then I'll bet even not even half of republicans would be for it.

They are brainwashed cult members. ISIS has more common sense than these farks

All people sick with Covid-19 need close, up front and personal meetings with all of their supervisors. Shake their hands firmly, tell their faces, you'll be right by their side through out the ordeal.

This. America needs massive strikes like we had in the Gilded Age. Corporations will never do the right thing unless it's less expensive or dangerous than being a greedy asshole.

Democrats need to make that kind of scumbaggery expensive, or the people will, eventually, make it dangerous.

I'm on paid sick leave today so I'm getting a kick.

I'm not even sick, I'm about to go to the hospital with the wife to visit her daughter who was admitted overnight. An entirely legit use of a personal leave day. Our system in Australia recognises that taking time out to care for family members sometimes has to happen.

What happened after 9/11, you ask? Corporations that had offices in the twin towers temporarily offloaded that work to other regional offices in the Midwest because the labor was cheaper and they didn't have to hire en masse. After a while, they figured out that having a presence in New York City wasn't necessary, they could make even more money with a reduced work force outside of NYC.

If corporate profits aren't affected by the largest terrorist attack in US history, ain't nothing gonna happen to change labor laws because of the corona virus.

Between all the poor dying and those with money not wanting any human interaction it's going to increase automation.  Expect more self checkouts.

I get paid sick leave, family related days, personal days, vacation and a bunch of other leave.

12 months off (paid) for the birth of a child but my wife took that both times.  US conservatives would have you believe it would be impossible for the Canada to have a vibrant economy under those conditions yet here we are.  Many American companies take better care of their machinery than their employees.

You better believe if I thought I had it and my boss insisted (or strongly implied) that I better come to work I'd march up to him good and close, bring him up to date on every god damn thing I have been doing, and "accidentally" cough on him. (and then apologize profusely for cover).

I sent two people home yesterday and frankly I wish you could pursue disciplinary action against repeat offenders. We give them literally everything they need to work from home and you don't have to ask permission, either. Literally nobody will ever give you shiat for it.
