Sounds like a prime teaching moment about nonviolent civil disobedience to me. Don't fail your kids.

Hmm. If I didn't know better it would seem that since the salaries of teachers are eroding across the nation by the minute that we're not getting the brightest minds going into teaching.

How can this racist teacher be stopped?
I read that as How can this racist teacher be slapped.

Oh, boy. I've been here.

I'm going to say this teacher is older and was probably exposed to that view by her parents.

And she isn't wrong. Often, to get the change in society that is necessary you have to be a troublemaker. It is the only way to get the process done.

That said, I would go to the Principal. It may or may not do any good, but the administration needs to know what is going on in the class. Sooner or later, she will say or do something that is too far over the line and she will disappear.

Good one!  Now go tell the tide not to rise.

convince your kid to tell the principal that the teacher touched them in the nasty place.  get teacher fired and make sure the teacher's SO finds out so they leave.  then sue them for all their money and drag the court proceeding out for 5-10 years.  no matter where they go follow behind and tell everyone they come in contact with about the kiddy diddling, just as they are about to swallow a revolver to finally end it all whisper in their ear, "See now, THAT's being a trouble maker."

Difficulty: You're arguing for giving the teacher in TFA a raise.  Paying higher salaries to get now qualified purple to teach is a great idea, IFF you are using the additional money to actually get better people, not just reward the existing underqualified people.

Ah, the old "We can't pay any teachers more money because some of them are bad teachers."

Goes well with the "We can't provide benefits for poor people because some of them will misuse them".

Except I said that paying teachers more would be a great idea, as long as it was done properly.

Ummm. Tell your kids that as long as the vilans are in charge, all heroes are trouble makers. Then go make some trouble for that school.

Have the kid do research on MLK or read a book or more. Never rely on others for the garnering of facts relating to character.

You're both right. This is the corner in which America has painted themselves. Frankly, I'm ok with boosting teacher pay outright (including the idiots -- but they still can be coached) and crossing fingers this issue gets turned around after one generation.

red states (non-diverse parts) dont have teacher unions.  WE DONT NEED PROTECTION!!!

Also ... the best answer is to kill the teacher. the sooner that we start and finish this war, the better

...but he was a leader precisely because he was a good trouble maker. It's not like civil obedience was the idea...
