(The Hill)   If you put a gun to Mike Bloomberg's head and demanded he say things that would disqualify him from ever becoming the Democratic nominee for president, you probably couldn't do better than this newly leaked audio from 2016   (thehill.com) divider line

So basically admitting he's not a Democrat but a Northeast Republican
Which is apparently someone who wants taxcuts and doesn't hate women, gays and minorities a lot but are okay with people who do

Bloomberg is a Republican.

He's the gift that keeps on taking.

ecmoRandomNumbers: He's the gift that keeps on taking.

He's afraid of Warren and Bernie and he's going make sure one of them is the nominee whether he's knows it or not

He's a classic New York Republican.

Which is pretty liberal by the terms of the GOP after Newt brought all the slobbering fundies to the table for good.

To his credit, he stayed where he was as the GOP moved hard right. And eventually cut ties with the party.

He hasn't moved as far left as his community has. But I will at least give him credit for not going along with the insanity the way most other Republicans did after 2001. It would have been easy to do so.

Still not voting for him in the primary but I get his history.

The sad thing is that even if he spends a few billion of his own money, it will be like a normal human spending $100 to $1,000 or so.

I'm going to assume anyone supporting him, or stating, he's the only way to keep Trump from re-election is being paid directly by him... and there's a decent chance I'll be right.

2020-02-24 9:10:06 PM
He was my mayor for 8 years, I'm not a fan of him. He did do some pretty good things for the city, he also did several incredibly stupid and boneheaded things.
He's the worst type of politician, he's the type that knows what's best for you, even if the majority of people disagree, and he'll use every trick in the book to enact his vision over the will of the people. Then he'll tell you how it was for your own good.

I know you voted for term limits, twice, but I'm going to ask my rich friends for support and then have the city council strike down the law.

Bloomberg still thinks the Iraq war was a good thing, or was the correct thing to do but the intelligence was faulty or that the people who got the US involved made a mistake but that we shouldn't live in a world of regret or something https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/477144-bloomberg-on-backing-2003-invasion-of-iraq-i-dont-live-in-a-regret-world

So Bloomberg is basically a lot like Trump and Bush II in that self reflection is naval gazing and is a worthless pursuit. You should never try and decide why you made a mistake and try an improve yourself but you should just pledge that you won't make the same mistake again, somehow, and move on doing similar things that have always been done because new ideas are scary or something

"What Mike could and did do for President Obama is much like what he could and did do for Hillary Clinton when he spoke at the Democratic Convention in 2016 - convince Americans who weren't already convinced of voting for the Democrat," the spokesman added.

Nice work, buddy

And then he's either going to run as a third party or give support to a third party candidate that can siphon votes from the nominee. He doesn't care if Trump wins, he just wants to make sure that a progressive loses

If you put a gun to Bloomberg's head he'd just use it as an excuse to start preaching about why we need to ban all guns.

Bloomberg's problem is...

Well, I guess there's a lot to say to that, but I'd summarize it as he's incapable of seeing beyond the concerns of New York City. He seems to think that the country begins and ends in the five boroughs.

I know that that's a crass and stereotypical view of New Yorkers, but in his case I think it's right on the money.

As a Virginian I've seen him pour vast sums of money into our elections, and as a Democrat I can appreciate that, but as a Virginian I resent the interference, especially since he's trying to bend our views to fit his own, particularly when it comes to gun control.

If there's so much violence in New York compared to Virginia...maybe the problem is in New York? You're engaging in a Reverse-Supply-Side-Jesus solution to violence. People don't obtain and use guns merely because guns exist.

I'll just summarize with this classic:

With the unfortunate massive rightward shift in the country's politics that puts him only a bit right of center in the Democratic party.

How much money is enough money for you personally?
Now, what are your policies to ensure every American obtains that same level of prosperity?

GFY Bloomberg.  You're just pissed that Trump figured out how to take over the Republican party, even if he was trying to fail and start a news network.  Must stick in your craw that you couldn't buy the US presidency.  Eat shiat, DIAF, EABOD and again, GFY.

If Bloomberg becomes blue...I'll still remember his blatant racism when I cast my vote for a third party.  Never ever thought I'd do that in a Trump re-election.  But why farking bother at this point.

If Bloomberg wants to REALLY stick it to Trump (Note: he doesnt REALLY) he would buy Twitter and shut it down.
Then he could offer to sell it to Trump for twice what he paid for it. Trump couldnt cover it (of course) and would go ballistic without his mouthpiece.
Maximum trolling achieved.
But, like I said.. Bloomberg isnt REALLY looking to stop Trump.

The entire Democratic field should make a pact, independent from their other economic plans, to add a 100% wealth tax on Michael Bloomberg to their Day One Initiative.

Please America, I know we don't always agree- even those of us who live in the same party- but it would be totally solid if we could come together across the ideological aisle and send this billion-dollar piece of human garbage packing on Super Tueday.
