Welcome to Farktography!

This Week's Theme:
"Silver and Gold"

Description: Photograph metallic objects that are gold or silver in either metal content or color (or both).

We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:
- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Please note:
The overarching ideal behind Farktography is that image corrections are acceptable, while adding or removing elements in the image (e.g. removing telephone poles, adding Elvis) is not acceptable. Levels, curves, contrast, saturation, crop, and black-and-white conversion tools may be used judiciously, but not to cartoonish or unrealistic extremes. Avoid applying artistic filters for the purpose of mimicking film, tilt-shift, toy camera, etc type effects. HDR and panorama stitching either in-camera or in post processing are not allowed unless specified for a particular theme (true multiple exposures done in-camera are acceptable, however). See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.
- Drop by the Farktography Forum on Fark (new window) or or Farktography.com (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)
- Check stats or review whether you've used a photo before at Bibliostats .

More from OMSI's Tutankhamun exhibit. This is the other shot of his mask I got, without the lens flare.

One of my favorite parts of the exhibition. The golden doors leading into the vault itself. The lighting made for some interesting shots, and this one ended up being my favorite of the whole thing, just because of its mood.

No votey because of the lens blur, but I loved how whimsically this one turned out with it so wanted to share.

That's probably Isis. Ma'at is sometimes depicted as a winged figure like that, but she typically has a feather on her head.

Cool. Nice shot, either way, but I won't steal it because I never played a Yamaha.

lol thanks ;) I've played a Holton, though single, not double. I haven't tried a Kruspe wrap horn--the borrowed double I played before this was a Geyer/Knopf--so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I like this one. It's a good intermediate horn for someone stepping up into a double. Yamaha has a good reputation for the quality of its rotary valves.

Oops...forgot to caption the pic of my ring.
My Grandmother bought that gold & garnet ring for my Dad when he joined the Army back in 1953.
Dad gave it to me for my 14th birthday and I have been wearing it for 50 years now.

Awesome stuff folks, thanks for sharing your photos!  I'd like to take a moment to offer a warm welcome back to some folks we hadn't seen in awhile: BecauseISaidSo, biatchqueen, and The Uncredible Skunk--great to see you all this week, and we hope to see you back next week!

Results aren't final, but the thread is about to close, so congrats to top finishers BecauseISaidSo, D_PaulAngel, and CiliarySpasm! Final winner (or winners in the case of a tie) will, as always, receive all due praise and glory via next week's Fark NotNewsletter.

See everyone next week for "Tools of the Trade 2"!
