It's about time. Virginia has become notorious for being the top choice of people filing SLAPP suits nationwide.

Elections have consequences. Sometimes that's a good thing.

We've finally started to emerge as a more progressive state, which is good. Give it a chance. I'm just hoping we don't destroy the generally moderate (leaning conservative) state laws that make me enjoy living here all at once. We don't need a counter-productive backlash at the polls.

Making election day a state holiday is going to help boost voter participation by a lot, I think.

If VA wants to prove its new worth as a government, they will include a provision in the language of this bill, specifically inviting "any and all treasonous grapefruit farkers to stfu and gtfo."

I have a hard time understanding how politicians can pursue these cases in the first place.

The Depp/Heard issue is another affair.    There was an NDA and a cash settlement involved.   And the tapes that were released clearly show Heard was the abusive one.

Considering this, I wonder why the author included this, as most cases with these in place would be recognized in other venues.

Clearly Nunes as Representative of California's 22nd District had no other venue to purse Twitter (whose headquarters are in San Fransisco) but in Virginia State Court. I mean, what other state could they POSSIBLY hold the trial in?

I think that would also be extremely difficult to roll back if/when the (gag) R-majority eventually swings back.

Because no one ever has to work on holidays, right?

Automatic registration, vote by mail, or expanded early voting would have been vastly more effective.

New Virginia is dope.

I think what is happening in Virginia is great.

My only fear is this - if the Republicans ever get control again, they'll undo ALL of this.

It's the same fear I have at the federal level. Anything Democrats manage to fix, Republicans will break it given the chance.

Damn... I was hoping for Nunes to sue me over my Devin Nunes's Grapefruit bot that does nothing but tweet lyrics from "More Than Words" at him once every three hours.

My bot is following him, too.

Apropos of nothing, if anyone has any tips on making effective Twitter bots, I'd appreciate the help. I want it to be the first to reply to all of his posts, and have specific replies for when it's replying to both him and Trump.

This is what needs to happen the moment the Dems get the White House and Senate back.  One executive order to undo every damaging executive order of the Trump presidency; purge the executive branch;  resurrect every bill on the Grim Reaper's desk; slam through progressive judges; reunite imprisoned children with their parents and hand over the responsible ICE staff to The Hague; drop Trump's tariffs...

Day two:  fix immigration; transfer all fossil fuel subsidies to renewable energy credits and research;...

This. If the Dems get control of the Senate, they need to go nuclear immediately. Otherwise, the GOP will just repeat what they did under Obama; deliberately sabotage everything, and blame the resulting problems on the Democrats. See: refusing to allow Obama to close Guantanamo Bay, the various shiat they forced into the ACA, government shutdowns, etc.

I saw Nunes won the discovery part with McClatchy. I hope this quells that.
