Of course they don't say anything. And for many reasons, but chief among them being that if they say something, they know Trump will double down and order it. If they stay silent, there's a good chance he forgets about it before officially ordering it.

Vindman is going to the Army War College to teach. It is a prestige position and guessing he may give a seminar on Ethics and ways to deal with people lacking them.

The article's I've seen say he's going as a student, but the news isn't always correct.  It does seem likelier though for his rank.

I have seen reports that differ. Vindman already has a master's from Harvard so maybe another masters for him if he wants to stay to become a general officer. War college is required if he wants O-7  or better.

A world. Of sh*t.

I'd like to see those allied with the side of good sprit him out of there in rapid fashion. It is not safe for him there.

Vindman could teach a course on ethics and the Trump kids have been ordered to take a course on how not to defraud charities.  Maybe we could get them together.

This, and also I would assume the military cannot take a public position that contradicts even the unofficial stance of their commanding officer (the president).  If the military starts saying 'X is not going to happen'  or 'X is not justified' after the president says 'X is going to happen' or even 'X might happen' that makes public worldwide speculation about whether the president of the united states has lost the support of his military, which would be bad for overall stability of...everything.

Well it is finally time. All that training for the military, that if given an unlawful order it is the individuals duty to disobey it, and to state why it should not be obeyed. I'm certain the cretins professionals in the halls of the pentagon will be falling all over themselves to do this. Because that is what this is, an unlawful order. Otherwise leaders can start busting people lower in rank due to any whim or dislike.

The Army will take care of him and Trump will leave and his tour will continue. I expect him to make Brig. And then out.

I said the exact same thing in an exit interview not a week ago.  "Lead is a verb. It is demonstrated in action.  It isn't a title or something you can just assign to someone."

The Pentagon is doing the right thing by not saying anything.  If the Army brass is worth their oaths, they'll give Vindman a good posting and they'll either :

a)Tell Trump "We sent him to a post that is out of the way and he's not going anywhere"
b) Don't tell Trump shiat, and wait till he moves on to another shiny object (which is about 3 seconds)
c) Send the Vindman brothers to a highly classified post that can't be explained in pictures, so Trump wouldn't know anything anyway, since he demands his classified briefings be in pictures and stuff

I think the Vindman brothers will have some protection from the Army brass.  The Army general I worked for was a stand-up guy, and I'd follow him moreso than some Marine generals I know and served under (heresy for a Marine to say, but, hey, truth hurts)

Plus the Pentagon usually won't comment on routine administrative personnel matters to the public, because that trash changes as many times as you breathe in a minute.

2020-02-12 10:52:49 PM
Trying to run out Trump's attention span won't work. Trump might have the attention span of a meth-addled goldfish, but Vindman said an unkind thing about Trump in public, and so Trump will spend the rest of his life hating Vindman and will do everything in his power to hurt him.

Running out Trump's presidency is more likely to work.

Umm. A Lieutenant Colonel can't just go around kicking people out of the Army. I think a CO can give an enlisted soldier an OTH discharge, but Vindman isn't anybody's CO.

Let's not forget, last December 16, the Sec of Defense told the minority leader of the US Senate, that Lt. Col. Vindman would be protected from ALL retaliation or reprisal, as same would be illegal under Section 714 of Code 10, US Code.  It's time for another House investigation, putting the Sec of Defense and the signer of that letter under oath.

Can someone please cite an example of an officer or enlisted man refusing to obey an illegal order, and what happened to them?  Preferably something more interesting than corrupt procurement scams.  2nd Lt. William Calley was found guilty of obeying an illegal order, not refusing to obey one.

"That's going to be up to the military. We'll have to see, but if you look at what happened I mean, they're going to certainly I would imagine take a look at that,"

Translation: There's already a paper trail on a TS server of his flunkies trying to find a way to toss Vindman in Leavenworth.
