Last month, Trump said he does not consider potential brain injuries to be as serious as physical combat wounds, downplaying the severity of the injuries suffered in Iraq.

Remember folks when comments like this would derail a political career?????

IEDs have been doing that to our troops for nearly two decades. Those injuries have often been discounted by far better people than the draft dodger in chief. Why is it so hard to take care of vets?

This presidency has been the TBI of America.

155mm Arty (6-10kg warhead) shells being rigged up as an IED vs 650 kg of  high explosive from a Fateh SRBM and they hit with 5-6 of them...

TBIs will soon be given to all American citizens so that we can best emulate dear leader.

First of all, Trump, do we have to say anything more.

Second, I just got a sandwich from the deli. I ordered a turkey club on rye toast with mayo and onions. They asked, You want that toasted? I got it, brought it home, it was freaking five slices of ham, two slices of packaged American cheese, no onions, two slices of turkey. Way to go, America.

Because if we took it seriously we would soon figure out that we shouldn't be sending people into harms way in the first place, especially not for such ill-considered purposes like a phony "war on terror". And if we did that, we might also have to admit to a great many veterans that their sacrifices were indeed in vain which is a damned hard pill to swallow for those who have lost comrades-in-arms beyond their own personal sacrifices.

Statistically speaking, how many of them will end up homeless? How many suicides? How many will abuse their spouse/children? Become addicted to opioids or alcohol after being cast away?

How many fewer would it be if we at least took TBI seriously and gave any real support to them? From the very top, right out loud, America is saying they don't care.

My new question is "who is pushing this narrative?"  Are we sure they were all fine before this?  The whole botched assassination of Soleimani has been a tropical fark storm from the jump.

Latin is the root language for Spanish, french, and Italian, so its not that far off.  not a bullzeye by any stretch, but it makes it on the board.

45 has had so many gaffes that should have ended his political career.  any other candidate out there would have died off with any single one of them.  the "Grab'em" tape would have been enough to get an incumbent out of office a decade ago.

I'm surprised we haven't done more advancements in helmet technology to prevent TBIs. You pretty much have to pressurize/seal the helmet to prevent the concussive force.

I can't think of any other way to mitigate over-pressurization injuries.

TBI is no joke.  my wife works with some folks with TBI and based upon the severity, it can be something fairly mild and treatable, to permanently life altering (balance, walking, speech, memory loss).  Pres. Dipshiat's "it was basically a few soldiers got headaches, nothing major" is woefully incorrect.

This was actually true. I also got a BLT, I haven't opened the wrapping yet. I assume there is no B in there, considering the work on the turkey club, which when made correctly are great. Now, back to your politics thread.

I was talking about this yesterday with a friend. The only way to be more patriotic is to put flag stickers all over stuff and a giant flag outside my house right by the mailbox. And goddamn them footballers that kneel, trying to protest a system that they feel takes a lot from them yet does not represent them

You'd be looking at something similar to a Star Wars Storm Trooper helmet. You need to basically isolate the entire head from blast effects.  Not entirely impractical, but it would require a real development effort.

Not to threadjack but I suck at three-letter acronyms. For the life of me I thought you folks were talking about TuBerculosis Infections and couldn't figure out what that had to do with Don Don covering up and downplaying our soldier being injured. Injured in the brain, traumatically ... *facepalm* oooohhhhhhh.

When these soldiers get kicked out of the service for not being physically able to perform their duty anymore and end up drug addicted and homeless in some coastal city there is only one thing you need to know: this is all Obama's fault.

Yeah, that was basically it. I just emptied the contents of the sandwiches into a bowl sans the bread, got out the Thousand Island and that was that. You do what what you need to. Frankly, if this is my biggest issue today, I guess I'm OK.

The fun part is knowing that, now, soldiers coming back with CTE and PTSD are going to be considered "fakers" and "losers," because they're just complaining about "headaches" and "whining."

Everything this asshole says and does is "woefully incorrect." I'm less worried about that, and more worried about the millions of Americans who just heard the President of the United States basically say that soldiers are masquerading their "headaches" as actual "injuries" so that they can then illegitimately suck off the VA's tit and pretend to be "disabled." All that Trump lacked was his usual facial gestures and gesticulation whenever he decides to mock the disabled.

The moronic assholes that follow the catechism of Trump are now going to treat these soldiers like second-rate citizens - see, they like soldiers with actual injuries - and so these poor bastards are going to come home to disapproval, if not outright shunning, in their own communities. After all, they're just faking injuries and making Trump look bad; they're practically traitors.

Fark Trump. Fark everything about that asshole.
