Get yourself a good manly cancer like testicular or prostate.  No wussy girl is going to get those.

Uh huh, something here is bullshiat, and it's not the sunscreen.

"In October, an uncharacteristically flummoxed Pete Buttigieg declared that he washes his face with soap and doesn't moisturize-drawing a gentle rebuke from Pels and a correction from Buttigieg's husband, who tweeted a photo of the moisturizer they keep at home."

I'm not that enthused by a president Buttigieg, but First Man Chasten would be glorious.

Female politicians are suddenly comfortable talking about makeup and hair. What changed?

We elected a president who wears makeup and has an elaborate haircare regimen(And likes to lie about it).
Jesus, is Politico really this stupid?

Warren saying she doesn't wash her face isn't that crazy.  Confession time:  I actually tried that whole "not using soap/shampoo" skincare thing.  It is not easy.  I had to avoid a lot of activities that would've made me very dirty.

After a month my hair was incredible.  After a few weeks my skin was great.  I still showered every day - very hot showers where I scrubbed myself (with a rag on a stick).  I still used soap for my hands and feet and stank areas.  And I still shampoed my hair once a month.  There are real benefits to it.  But it takes too much work.  After a week of heavy yard work I had to use soap and shampoo twice in a week and I was just done with it.

Anyways, I really do wonder how many modern skin problems are caused from too much soap, too much shampoo.

If Americans are more willing to talk about skincare regimes than in the past, it may mean we have finally moved away from the patriarchal mindset that denigrates women (and men) who put any effort into enhancing attractiveness. That mindset really came about as feminist leaders like Andrea Dworkin who, even if only tangentially to her real beliefs, taught that women must be the equal of men in every way by reducing the masculinity of men and increasing the masculinity of women. To not care about looks or hygiene is somehow masculine, and thus women not caring about it makes them more equal to men in that regard.

However important that message may have been decades ago, the fact of the matter is that women shouldn't be shamed into doing or not doing something because it makes them somehow worth less than a man. Rather, things that have no meaning one way or the other shouldn't be used as a bludgeon to keep either sex down. And conversely, there ought not be any shame for a man to take part in those things either.

You don't have to be a super macho man or woman to show how good you are. You just need to be good. Dressing like a slob and letting your skin go to hell doesn't prove you're smart. Doing and saying smart things proves it.

We've come a long way, baby.

That seems silly. They'd only use the automation when Joe Sixpack wanted a vacation and the rest of the time they'd pay him money rather than use the machines?

I use shampoo, but hardly ever use soap. I naturally don't have a lot of body odor. MY daughter, OTOH, you can smell her walking up to the car with the windows up on days she forgets to use deodorant. Whew! Wish I could get her to do morning showers instead of night time showers.

I was hoping this might might be about how extremely lax US regulations are on the cosmetics industry but I guess not.

Can I submit that this article is bullshiat and no, we do NOT need to ask any politicians about their skin care routines? We have serious problems in this country!

Compared to when? The 60s and 70s? Maybe. Compared to the 80s? not a farking chance. Between the paint spreader needed for the clay-like makup to the hair that was 3 feet in diameter the 80s was a decade long flirtation in seeing how flammable we could make a human being.

And the 50s? the 40s? Forget it, as bad as the 80s.
