Trump only likes veterans who are war criminals.

2020-02-10 9:42:23 AM
Pretty sure they'll get to that by the second Tuesday of next week.

2020-02-10 9:54:04 AM
The retaliation statute, 18 USC §1513, provides separately for various retaliations for testimony in "official proceedings" (EG, testimony before congress) and providing information to a "law enforcement officer" (EG, the FBI). Part 1513(e) only includes the latter.

It would seem good to eventually correct this loophole.

And when, like OMB, they find that Trump broke the law, then what?

nmrsnr: And when, like OMB, they find that Trump broke the law, then what?

He will have a fair trial in a court of law and justice will be served. What did you think  would happen, he'd just get away with it and it will be forgotten in a week?

Nothing. Nothing will happen. Buuuuuuuuuut maybe just maybe this may convince some folks to vote to get rid of Trump.

Surly the straw bale that breaks the camel's pulverized spine.

2020-02-10 11:20:09 AM
Let me save you all a lot of time.

IG:  Yep, he probably violated it.  But we cant punish a sitting POTUS.  The only recourse you have is impeachment.

2020-02-10 11:20:26 AM
And the the Department of 'Justice' comes up with a flimsy excuse to sweep it under the rug. Add it to the pile.

2020-02-10 11:20:37 AM
be careful what you ask for, chuckles.

They'll be forced to pass a budget and fund space force and kiddy jails.

cool, now we can have all of the IG's fires by the orange menace.

2020-02-10 11:21:59 AM
Does that only count if Vindman actually *lost* his job?  TFA says he and his brother were just reassigned to the Pentagon.

I'm not saying it's right, mind you...

2020-02-10 11:22:19 AM
This must mean something huge is about to drop. I have a feeling we're in for a crazy Friday.

2020-02-10 11:23:09 AM
Is there even any room left under the bus for an inspector general?

2020-02-10 11:23:55 AM
Good luck on that.  Breaking the law has no consequences for Trump anymore.  We have a King.  Get used to it and get ready for the corrinations to come.

Any retribution for, well, not even whistleblowing, but simply fulfilling his oath upon responding to a subpoena, should be off-limits.

As posted but someone in another thread "reassignment is still retaliation."

Good, we have to keep pushing back and documenting even if it seems like there are no consequences now. It may prove very important when we take things back.

2020-02-10 11:27:12 AM
Impeach him again.

2020-02-10 11:27:21 AM
Vindman wasnt the whistleblower, so not sure if it really qualifies. But as others pointed out.... even if it does, what are they going to do. This isnt what is going to cause the GOP to grow a spine.

2020-02-10 11:28:50 AM
Well Trump is allegedly exploring terminating Michael Atkinson for allowing the whisteblower to file his allegation instead of closing it as false just because the evidence he found corroborated the allegations, so any inspectors general who agree Trump cannot retaliate will be fired as well.

2020-02-10 11:28:51 AM
I'm fairly certain that this criminal doesn't give a fark.

Herr Drumph has discovered the flaw the founders left in our democracy. In order for it to work, a leader has to care about something other than himself. What I cannot understand is why half of this country loves him so much. I've always suspected conservatives could be perfectly happy with an American dictator as long as he gives them sympathetic lip service.

Even facing no repercussions or consequences there is still some meaning to doing, or trying to do, the right thing.

2020-02-10 11:30:16 AM
Oh, and speaking of Atkinson: Nunes is toadying up by sending a criminal referral to the DOJ for his approving the whistleblower's accusation.

Donald Trump is a Presidential candidate. Bob Barr has instituted a rule requiring DOJ approval for any investigation of a Presidential candidate. As such, Bob Barr must first approve any investigation into Donald Trump.

I like the asshole bonus points for removing the twin brother from his position.  Other than looking alike, did the twin have anything at all to do with the impeachment?

That's fine.  Save it for the AG taking over next January.  He'll actually prosecute Trump and his family.

Saves Trump from embarrassing dementia-addled double takes every time he walks through the White House and sees Vindman's brother.

Sure nothing may come of it, but if Democrats just get frustrated and not pursue trumps criminal behavior republicans would inevitably twist that into "If trump did anything wrong then why didn't Democrats do anything?" Thats's this shiat has to be gone after even if we know nothing will come of it, so trump is on the record for his actions, Democrats are on the record holding him accountable, and republicans are on the record covering for his actions. If we're going to survive as a country it's on us to hold politicians to account when their party refuses to. Specially when what their covering for is forgien intervention in our elections

I highly doubt Il Douche is walking through the White House.

Maybe they should focus on 2020 because NO ONE is going to bat an eye over this.  The outrage machine needs to take a vacation and let the party focus on winning the seat.

Popular conspiracy theories circulating amongst #Qanon followers hold that both of them were part of the coup attempt.

Most of the people pushing that claim also believe that the whistleblower is the boyfriend of Adam Schiff's daughter (for the record, his daughter's boyfriend is an undergraduate math major at Northwestern University in Chicago and unlikely to be a federal employee with any means of submitting a complaint to the IG).
