The officers will be space cadets.

The enlisted will be the chairforce, I expect they'll be even further behind the lines then airmen.

More or less will end up as a variant of the current USAF, just swap out airman for something like "Spacer"

The real gold will be what the other services call them when busting their balls.

Assholes?

Why good sir, it is my civic duty as an American citizen - by request of the Department of Homeland Security as established by The Patriot Act - to make fun of them in public forums.

SPACE....PEOPLE....

Spacers.
It should have been spacemen but... politics.

Btw, people thinking this is Trump's idea are idiots.  The notion of a space force dates back to the Cold War. It became space command in 1985 and was under the Air Force.
The air force proceeds to beat it like a red headed stepchild until 2002, when it was disbanded and moved under the JFCCSGS.
It's reestablished in 2018. This was probably due to the panic over the matryoshka incident (which is still ongoing), the illegal small sat launch and asat test by India, Iran's attempts at becoming a space power and a growing number of mismanaged US satellites turning into navigational hazards.

Space is being weaponized without us having a handle on any of this.  So now we have to go back and catch up on the work with an independent command structure and budget, and hopefully in the next ten years we will have something of a competent system to manage and defend our space assets.

Well, I suspect that at least some of these will be popular informal terms, used by members of the other services...

As far as what the 'grunts' will be called... Interesting question.

British sailors used to be called "Limeys" because the British Navy, uniquely among all wet-navies, provided limes to prevent the sailors coming down with scurvy. So, will the Space Force have something to their rations unique to their service?

Somewhat more formally, what will the rank-and-file Space Force service-folk do that sets them apart from the other services? By definition, the Space Force has to operate within a very advanced technical framework, while at the same time addressing very high-tech threats of a nature that the other services do not, so what list of descriptors does that provide?

No. The Outer Space Treaty bans WMD and nuclear weapons from space.

Thunderpickle: Desk pilots.  I really don't think that the government will actually get any people off the ground.

Certainly not before they restore capability to put humans in orbit from within American borders. I understand that quite a lot of the Space Force's duties will need to be performed remotely; very little of what the SForce's objectives can be performed in person within anything resembling an acceptable budget. So, something complimentary but still reflecting the fact that they do most of their jobs in front of workstations... Tall order.
