Subby, try punctuation;

Want to be one of the Elite? Well now, "how long it was" is less important than "how many times you do it."

So the frequent flyer program will now be about frequency of flying. Curious development.

The interesting bit is how United is penalizing people who live in one of their hubs and so get to take nonstop flights much of the time. Which makes sense in a corporate evil sort of way. People in hub cities are a captive audience. They're going to fly with you regardless. People in spoke cities likely have other options, perhaps better options in some ways.

Unintended consequence: since United is now encouraging people to take flights with connections, I wonder if that means needing more staff to handle moving baggage around, fixing things when flights get delayed, etc.

Alunan: It's Lord of the Flies over at the United Board on FlyerTalk Forums:m/united-airlines-mileageplus/1990845-new-premier-qualification-requirements-2020-only-spend-spend-flight-sectors.html

I got the United app and there are 4 or more numbers and I don't know what they are. I don't even know what the different precious metal levels and elites are for.

It makes really no effort to tell you what any of it means.

My hotel loyalty has points system and car rental too. Do not have t he time to figure out what they all stand for. I get e-mails that I have so many points and makes it as hard as possible to figure out what those mean. I have to chase down fine print somewhere or read a long essay on a pinned thread in a forum somewhere.
