The line always looks like it moves pretty fast when I go to the place next door.

Still not supporting a hate corp, though.

The store near me has 3-4 employees outside taking orders as soon as people get in the drive-thru line, which starts around 11:30 am and starts to thin out about 1:15 pm... still moves along at a good rate.  Can't fault them for the service.

They've built a ton of Chick-Fil-A's up here in the Portland area recently. All of them have a common theme: Either people are bonkers for middling, inoffensive fried chicken, or the drive through has to be as slow as christmas, because every Chick-Fil-A completely disrupts the traffic flow around itself, and the drive through traffic spills out into the road.

There's shadings of possibility in there

That's news to me. The Chick-fil-As near me are all super speedy. Sometimes it take a while b/c there are 12 cars in front of me. But when I pull up to the window they usually have my food waiting there.

Chick-Fil-A consistently tops food quality scores for fast-food chicken places.

\also service, cleanliness, etc.

While not technically fast food, Starbucks is easily the worst offender from my experience. Medium coffee with cream is not complicated. Still takes 15m with only one car ahead of me. Dunkin, otoh, has worse coffee but can fresh brew some dark roast after I've sat behind 9 cars and i'm still out of there in less than 10m.

I love in the area where chickfila was founded and it used to be great, but as they've expanded the prices have gone up and quality is way down.  It's still better than most other fast food places though.

That happened at our local popeyes when the chicken sandwich made its appearance.  They had a cop directing traffic on the highway outside the place. Now...no chicken sandwich and the place is pretty dead again.

The other question is: why is any drive-through slow?
* The kitchen is slow.
* The window team is slow.
* The main counter is busy making everybody else slow.
* They haven't found out inside yet that the freaking ice cream machine is broken again.
* They screwed up somebody's order ahead of you.

Or, perhaps most importantly...
* People absolutely love this food so much that they're willing to wait in line for extended periods of time - instead of downloading the mobile app and ordering ahead for faster curbside service. You know, morons.

I really like Chick-fil-A, but an Atlanta-based company that doesn't serve peach tea is highly suspicious.

I'll walk into Chik Fila for to go before I wait in the drive thru line.  Inside even with a line if I order the standard chicken sandwich combo I can be out the door in about 5 minutes or so.  They run the inside very efficiently.

/extra polynesian sauce please.

I eat there about once a year, but pass by the few locations near me quite often. If they're perceived as slow, its mainly due to the large influx of customers that seem to always be in line there. They seem to be fairly organized, and the line moves steadily. I have never seen a fast food place with so many people in line at the drive thru, both lanes backed up, with employees outside directing traffic. And this is at numerous locations. Closest experience to this is when McDonald promotes a 'busiest McDonalds' promotion

Longest lines, that's for sure.

I will set aside any consideration of the politics of the Chic-Fil-A company or any of its executives.  I am basing this solely on the quality of the food alone.

I just don't get the love for Chic-Fil-A.  Is it better than a chicken sandwich from, say, McDonald's?  Sure.  But people talk about it like eating it is some transcendent experience, and...well, it's just a pretty good chicken sandwiches.  Other places have better ones.  And they're open on Sunday, too.

All I know is that Chic-Fit-A employees actually act like they give a sh*t. Their stores are clean - especially the bathrooms - the food is hot, the workers are friendly, and so are most of the people there. Compare that to McDonald's with its urine-soaked bathrooms, slow service and luke-warm food.

It doesn't old up for around here, where the winner is clearly Arby's.

I think I've used the drive-thru for CFA exactly once- when I was in a hurry for breakfast and I was alone.  Every other time I eat in, because the restaurant is as much of a draw as the food.

The food is high quality.  It's not mind blowing, but it's good and it's consistent.  Moreover, the employees are respectful and seem to take some pride in their work.  The restaurant and bathrooms are clean.  The kids love it.  I like the placemats they have for the kids and when my kids were small some CFAs even had cheerios for them to snack on.  Every one I've visited seemed well run and thoughtfully maintained.

Sriracha sauce on the spicy deluxe sandwich for the win

It's just not good, even compared to other fast food. The chicken is tender and the pickle adds to it, the Polynesian sauce is good, but portions are small, the sandwich bread is bad, and the fries are cardboard. It's a lifestyle cult more than a good restaurant.

In south Austin they use a FARKING HIGHWAY ACCESS LANE as an extension of their drive-through line, AND THE FARKING POLICE HELP THEM DO IT!

(yeah, this bugs the shiat out of me every time I drive past.)

I don't want an app for every single restaurant I go to.

The only way Chick-Fil-A is getting shorter lines is to expand capacity.

People go crazy over fast food chicken sandwiches. I don't know why. It's as if there is some odd psychological switch inside that goes off in the possible vicinity of chicken in between bread.

Imagine the utter chaos that would ensue if one of them added rotisserie chicken to their menu. It would be like The Hunger Games with literal hunger.

The drive-thrus at Whataburger & Steak 'n Shake are slow as heck, but you want slow AND crappy employees, try the counter at KFC. Every one I have been in takes 5 minutes to finally come over to take your order & another five to get it to you IF they aren't sold out of that item. I really hate that place.

(I only go as my elderly parents don't drive much anymore & they love KFC's chicken pot pies)

Don't support hate groups, especially ones who encourage your kids to hang out in piss stained mildew rags.

Screw Chick-Fil-A.  One good thing about their slow service is if the building catches on fire it'll take more homophobes with it.
