And she has a twelve point lead if you're counting first or second choice, which matters in a caucus state where non-viable-candudate supporters need to switch to one of the viable ones after the first round.

Early days yet but so far the left-wing conventional wisdom is being vindicated: most of Biden's support is reflexive nostalgia and name recognition, and the more coverage he gets the less people will associate him with the Obama halo and the more people will see him for what he actually is -- a fossil who Democrats didn't even like all that much in his prime, back before Obama decided a politically incorrect old white male centrist would make it easier for America to swallow a black candidate.

I really like Warren. And for her age she's very vibrant and energetic. Has a great smile and personality. None of which Hillary had. Hillary would have made a good president but she wasn't that likable imo. Her voice grated on my nerves like a wife who caught you slipping in at 3 in the morning.

eiger: Single poll story, crime against journalism.

I keep track of the five most recent polls from each state (when available) for that very reason.

That said, Iowa has been quite interesting the past few weeks, as Warren has indeed moved into a virtual tie with Biden with Sanders and Buttigieg about ten points behind. It's obvious that Warren is putting a lot of focus and effort on Iowa, which seems to paying off in the polls and in person.

Phrasing...

I'm not exactly thrilled by the way Warren and Bernie are favoring narratives over facts (Michael Brown shooting in Warren's case, nuclear power in Bernie's).

But hey, they're both anti-war and will reign in corporations... so I'd still vote for them. Hopefully they get their heads out of their asses and go back to making statements based on facts.

Like most of The Clash's songs, I have only the vaguest ideas what it's about, but it sounds cool.

Maybe Rudy Giuiliani is "crude and feckless".

All I care is whether the nominee can beat Trump. His braying supporters are going to yell "Fauxcahontas!" and "soshulism!" That's not a problem in itself, but it will be if Trump's base comes out to vote and Warren's doesn't. Also, I hope she chooses her VP wisely.

Good - someone stick a fork in Bernie.

Warren is a phenomenal candidate and I'd love for her to be our president.

But it feels farked up seeing a thread erupt with "fark Bernie" when his policies and goals are practically identical to Warren's.

Feels like FarkPol is relieved Warren came along because she meant they could use Bernie's policies (which they've always agreed with) while discarding Bernie like a husk because he served his purpose as a vessel for them.

Go Warren AND go Bernie. Can't go wrong.

You're not entirely wrong, but you say it like it's a bad thing. Sanders would make a poor president or VP pick.

Hillary Clinton was both those things. "Not the other guy" doesn't win elections in America, which is both unsurprising and depressing.

I like Warren too, and she's vibrant and energetic FOR ANY AGE.  Her passion on the stump far exceeds candidates decades younger.  Stop with the negative qualifiers that you think are complimentary.  In addition to providing tacit support to those who feel a 60+ president is too old, it's never a compliment to say "she's ____ for someone her age."  If you think she's vibrant and energetic, say "she's vibrant and energetic" and then stop.  Same with anyone in your life - "you look great for someone over 50" is not a compliment to the recipient.  "You move well for a bigger guy" is heard as "you don't move well."  If you're impressed with someone's energy or skills or appearance or anything, just say that - don't immediately undercut your praise with a qualifier.

Oh boy, your going to have a hard time if she is nominated.  She will be judged by her gender and age. There's no question about it.  I still remember when Clinton was attacked in the 90s for not being a proper first lady who remained quiet on political issues and focused on her social duties.  Why we have moved past that stage to some degree, we are not yet to where all genders are treated equally.

I think a lot of it has to do with a  vocal subset of his supporters who really managed to get on everybody's nerves for years and years now.

I like Bernie just fine, but like Warren better because she's more likely to build up the party. There are also quite a few other minor candidates I'm very happy are running. And I credit sen. Sanders for moving the whole 2020 field to the left.

But if I never have to deal with his more strident supporters shiatting up every political discussion online I'd be a very, very happy man. And I'm betting that for many that dislike of that specific subgroup of his overall supporters is coloring their general perception of sen. Sanders.

Exactly.

He will be riding out that line the entire time and his base will lap it up, but the sad thing is that Trump could (and does) have countless derogatory nicknames and they don't get used constantly by the dems.  Probably because the dems have a collective maturity above the 6th grade level and don't need to traffic constantly in childish nicknames....

But still..
