Still have my rocking colorful silk shirt and dingo boots from my high school prom. If I'd put on the silk shirt in a strong wind I'd take off like Sally Fields the collar is so BIG.

I'll tell ya, the trend on College of Charleston campus this semester has been high-waisted jean shorts cut so the crease of your butt cheeks hangs out the bottom. They're not doing the aggressively skin-tight denim thing nearly as much as even a couple of years ago. Oh, and bra-lessness seems to be super popular this fall. There have definitely been worse fashion seasons.

Oh my God, jeans and tennis shoes. How will we survive?

There hasn't been a distinctive fashion style since the '80s.

Having said that, there aren't enough '90s goth girls nowadays.

seen a lot of high wasted shorts this summer - mostly on slim, attractive girls who want to be fashionable, but all it does is make them look frumpy and that they don't care what they are wearing

if that's what you were going for, good job

also we're getting into the recycling of the 90s recycling of 60s fashions.

like photocopies and copies video tapes, quality goes down drastically with every iteration.  in the 60s it was new.  in the 90s it was kids raiding their parents closets and putting their own spin on it.  now it's just an imitation of an imitation.  time for some new ideas, these aren't any good

kids really have no new ideas when their lives are consumed with staring at a phone. Off to go fishing with a real fishing pole on the Jersey shore. The striper bite is ON

The term "mom jeans" originated from a Saturday Night Live sketch from 2003

No. No it didn't. I've been hearing that term since at least the late 80's. Remember sassons?

Good looking people will look good in whatever they wear.  The fat people in skinny jeans look was bad.

Somewhere out there, there's a cache of Jnco jeans just waiting for the moment in which they're marketable again.

The current fashion is your pants hanging down below your ass for the guys, and yoga pants for the girls, as it has been for the past 20 years, and will continue to be for the next 80.

I like wearing a head band in my hair.  It works for my texture of hair and it's something different.  Then someone said, "mom jeans you look like a fat old cheerleader", and that was the end of that.

Considering how many companies are now buying safety yellow shirts for thier working class employees as uniforms or just random gifts, it wouldn't be suprising. Especially considering how profitable being a hipster was in the early 2010s. Be ironically fashionable and blame the 90s.

I jokingly was going to link a picture of corduroy pants but alas they are way, way too popular for this being nearly 2020. What the fark humanity!? DID WE NOT LEARN ANYTHING FROM THE FRICTION SCORCHED GROINS!?

I don't mind where pants sit. High waisted. Low waisted. Makes no never mind, Just give the crotch enough room so my pants don't pull down when I move.

AcneVulgaris: The 90s was a time when the fashion industry tried to combat AIDS by dressing the population in a way that made people not want to have sex with each other.

That's it though, what was the fashion in the 1990s? Flannel? Those t-shirts that changed color when they got wet? The 60s had a fashion. So did the 70s and 80s. But I was there in the '90s and we just wore t-shirts and jeans. Yeah maybe the t-shirts changed color but that was about it as far as a distinctive style.

I do notice that pre-ripped up jeans are a thing now. So I have to throw away my jeans that were genuinely ripped up from being in mosh pits because I don't want to look like a a guy approaching 40 whose trying to be hip.

There's an intern where I work who wears his pants around his knees and is constantly pulling them up. Bill Cosby was complaining about that like 30 years ago.

Coming back? Mom jeans have already been back for a while and it's sad.

I miss the low-rise ones that showed off whale tails and coin slots.
