No, Corgan has wanted into wrestling in a bad way for over a decade. He founded Resistance Pro, he got farked over in the TNA deal, then he picked up the NWA.

He's been the ultimate money mark for the last 10 years.

That title is still owned exclusively by Dixie Carter, who actively hurt the TNA product by her reliance on Russo and pouring her dad's money in for so, so, so long.

Good for NWA but how many independent wrestlers are there that don't have exclusive being seen on American TV contracts that aren't signed by WWE or AEW. He's down to whatever is left in ROH, Impact, & NJPW.

So this is the thing that strikes you as strange about the current state of affairs? Kind of a weird place to draw the line, but OK...

So, Mr. Jacksonville Jaguars, Fulham Football Club, and Wembley Stadium has a son who owns a professional wrestling association, and it competes against a similar sweaty fightingman association owned by a guitarist/singer for a band that had two great albums in the mid-90s.

What a world we live in.

I have a feeling that there was a lot of foreign money flowing into the rap business in the 90's, specifically to amplify racial divisions. Now that culture has blossomed, we're now seeing investment in the opposite side of that division.

Take a look at Marlon Craft or Joyner Lucas.

I understand that people have firmly held beliefs and all that jazz... but let's take a look at who is financing these folks who wind up in front of the whole world, and the messages they spread.

For those of us who grew up in the 90s, Billy Corgan has become the living embodiment of "you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

If the intent was to divide people, they must have been disappointed when suburban white kids were the ones buying all the albums.

Not if you look at the long game. Pinning kids against what their parents taught them is part of the operation.

I get where you're coming from, but think longer. I'm 40 and I still listen to rap almost exclusively. And I am a pretty blue eyed white boy. Listening to that music for my whole life has not brought me closer to my darker brethren, but helped to give me thoughts about why I should rear them.

Obviously, I'm smart enough to ignore music as a guide for moral and societal constraints... but there's a lot of ignorant people out there who blindly follow celebrities.

NWA has affiliate promotions all over the US, so they're not hurting for talent.  Granted, they may not be household names yet, but...

FirstNationalBastard: he got farked over in the TNA deal

In a huge way.  Dixie Carter made a deal with him where he would have had an option to purchase the company without revealing that she didn't actually have the authority to sell it.  So in the end he basically just made a low/no interest loan to keep the company solvent.

I still think the smartest thing anyone can do with the NWA is to toss the NWA belt into the ocean and simply concentrate on promoting the individual member promotions.  As a third or fourth or fifth promotion, it has no future.  But it could resurrect the territory system and dominate it like it hasn't since Vince Sr & co. and Verne Gagne left.  They could promote their own subscription service (or partner with one of the iPPV companies) and promote territorial events every couple of weeks and a couple of supercards a year.  (But, alas, every promoter thinks he's the next Vince McMahon.)

No, they need the NWA champ. A big name to travel to the territories. Gives the people in the territories something to fight for... the right to face the big boss.

I hate to say it, but I have to disagree with you on the idea of tossing the belt.  The NWA World Championship has always been a reason to get the champ to the other regional affiliates for house shows and TV tapings.  The NWA Women's title is what got Moolah out wrestling some poor little no name in California.  Even if the titles wasn't changing hands, the draw of the title put butts in seats.
