Nice headline, subby - that's their point, as well.

Give it another decade, and all tea will be bubble tea.

Gotcha.

Bottled water taste like plastic so not surprised

One of the issues with studying whether microplastics are a health risk is the utter absence of a control group.  Microplastics are ****ing EVERYWHERE, so there's no healthy non-contaminated group to compare against the rest of us.

Wave Of Anal Fury: Microplastics are killing fish, but safe for humans.

Gotcha.

Citation needed. We know that big pieces of plastic like grocery bags harm sea life but microplastics are an unknown, as far as I've seen.

Typical CNN. "concerns over microplastics should not distract water suppliers and regulators from removing microbial pathogens, such as those causing deadly diarrheal diseases. "

No. Don't be distracted. I have a water filterer and a water distiller (mainly for my plants). Remove everything but water from your water. Don't buy bottled water, because... you guessed it: it comes in plastic bottles.

"The paper that this article was based on was retracted by the journal Science on 3 May 2017." It's the first sentence.

Panna, Italian Alps spring water, comes in glass liters.

Under $2 dollars a liter at Total Wine

I buy it by the case. usually have three to six cases on hand

live in the desert

Micro plastics are relatively safe (probably) because they are still to big to cross cell membranes or get absorbed into the bloodstream.  Nano plastic particles are quite worrying though because they may be small enough to be absorbed into and possibly build up the body. We don't have any great ways of monitoring that though...  Kinda scary.

2019-08-22 03:20:14 PM
All the more reason to buy bottled water!  In lightweight plastic bottles, of course.

/that also has microplastics in it, Hahahaha.
//you reap what you throw.

Microplastics usually act like sand and other indigestibles.
Doesn't mean we should look forward to having them in the water, but we ingest all sorts of indigestible microbes, some of them float and some do not.

When I lived in the desert and had no running water, I bought my water in my own  gallon jugs that I filled up at the mini Mart for 25 cents a gallon.

So, Mr.  "I don't buy bottled water" snob.  Do you recycle your own glass too?  Because you know it creates tons of carbon moving all those glass bottles around.

/drinking water still comes from your tap too.

The onus is on you to back up assertions, not someone else to check your claims.  [citation needed meme]

That's anti-vaxxer level science there (see retraction). Look, I'm pretty far off on the hippie-libby-environmentalist end of the spectrum but I hate bullshiat science, no matter the politics. There are enough real problems, we don't need to just make shiat up because it sounds sensational "OMG! Micro-plastics are everywhere!."

I wasn't worried there for a second.
