Internationally, yes. The English alphabet isn't universal.

To be honest, until your post I hadn't realized they were going alphabetically.

But now I'm wondering how Q is 10 when it's the 17th letter.

Point releases:

4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean
4.4 KitKat
5.0 Lollipop

No, there was never rhyme nor reason to the numbering, up until Lollipop.

That'll be super exciting to the 5 percent or so of Android users who'll actually be able to upgrade their devices to it.

About time they used a progression that makes sense

Oh those whacky developers and their cutesy release names... wait... should I upgrade to Fudgy Pumpkin or Crusty Blumkin?

They've already started work on android 11. I don't think they are going to change it back to android 10.1.
But I'm am optimist..

Well, they won't be able to do Android X, since the name is already in use.

The latin character set is fairly universal particularly for places like China that don't have a simple ordering on their characters. I've heard that their parking garage floors can be labeled A through  E.

All Chinese military hardware is given latin character names.
