Woah. the Star wars people are out in full force!

~firestarter. ;)
2004-07-24 08:15:38 PM
Well, George said up front a long time ago that there would be nine movies so he's just fulfilling that goal. Get over it.

Revenge of the Sith sounds a little corny, in a 50's sci-fi era way. But its a lot better than Attack of the Clones though.
2004-07-25 01:02:15 AM
This crap will be as exciting as watching George Lucas have sex with Linda Ronstadt but it will make another zillion dollars for that has-been.

We have just folded space from Ixth.
Many machines on Ixth.
Better than those on Reegess.
2004-07-25 01:03:04 AM
In other news, Episode V to be called "The Empire Strikes Back", and VI "Return of the Jedi"
2004-07-25 01:03:44 AM
Should have been called "George Lucas pulls a movie title out of his A$$ for money, Rick Berman was unwilling to comment"
2004-07-25 01:03:46 AM
That title rots.

/gettin the obvious out of the way
2004-07-25 01:03:48 AM
It was amazing how fast I started seeing people walking around in Revenge of the Sith tshirts today at Comic Con. I think it's a kind of a fitting name - a nice play on the old "Revenge of the Jedi" working title.
2004-07-25 01:05:49 AM
I'm watching "the phantom menace" right now, oddly enough. Hopefully the batsh*t crazy Lucas can salvage III from the terrible acting and *shudder* Jar Jar Binks of the first two movies...
2004-07-25 01:06:14 AM
I hope the box set of the first 3 movies comes out on DVD before I hate this movie.
2004-07-25 01:09:00 AM
I guess he'll wait until a few posters are printed and change it to Return of the Sith?

fakr George Lucas.
2004-07-25 01:09:13 AM
Worst title ever

who the hell cares what the movie is called so long as the actual movie is good.
2004-07-25 01:12:51 AM
For those non TF'ers, there've been about four thousand posts about this.

Gotta love the acronym tho

Star Wars: ROTS

Truer words....
2004-07-25 01:14:30 AM
That's kind of cute, really. I mean, the headline poster thinking that Star Wars was relavent to begin with.
2004-07-25 01:15:51 AM
Stupid title, and I am sure it will be a stupid movie, but I will see it anyway.

2004-07-25 01:16:10 AM

Let's see you make billions off a goofy idea. Yeah I thought so. Shut up.

which one of those buttons calls your parents to come pick you up?

/out of context
2004-07-25 01:18:16 AM
I wonder if they ever considered the acronyms and anagrams when they were coming up with the title...
2004-07-25 01:21:37 AM
And forevermore, Revenge of the Sith will be found alphabetically on video shelves at Blockbuster, right next to Revenge of the Nerds, Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise, Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation, and Revenge of the Nerds IV: Nerds in Love. And if it's a really *big* Blockbuster store it'll be between the Revenge of the Nerds series and the 1980 TV-movie, Revenge of the Stepford Wives.
2004-07-25 01:22:06 AM

Well, I know I did.
2004-07-25 01:22:52 AM
I dig it.

I was really hoping on "Rise of the Empire" though.
2004-07-25 01:23:05 AM
I can't believe that I'm the only one that remembers the very first original theatrical preview for the Return of the Jedi. Does anyone else remember it? It wasn't called Return of the Jedi... any takers on what it was called?
That's right
Revenge of the Jedi

This asshole, Lucas, is just remaking the movies by changing the names of people and whatnot, adding lots of special effects and calling it a masterpiece.

I'm not even seeing the damn thing. Unless I download it. I alread saw the plot the first time with "Return" of the Jedi.

Anyone care to bet how close the plot is to the original?
2004-07-25 01:23:19 AM
Best villain ever

And the world of new trilogy haters thanks you!
2004-07-25 01:24:12 AM
These prequils only keep proving that it was the talent around Lucas that made the original trilogy good.
2004-07-25 01:28:04 AM
I still think it should have been THE PASSION OF THE SITH
2004-07-25 01:34:13 AM
"THX 1138: The George Lucas Director's Cut" is being released in September in some theatres and on DVD. George Lucas can't stop messin' with his movies.

who the hell cares what the movie is called so long as the actual movie is good.

Given Lucas' recent track record, I wouldn't count on it...
2004-07-25 01:44:55 AM
lol...that was a good bit on Conan. best late night show on.

unfortunately, the movie probably won't be very good. but then, what has been good recently? at least the acting can't be any worse than episode 2.
2004-07-25 01:49:02 AM
Why does it seem like I'm the only one who liked the "Attack of the Clones" title? This series was inspired by the old flash gordon, and those titles made sense in light of it.
2004-07-25 01:53:06 AM
Jeesix Crunch, he's ripped off his own title and logo (return of the jedi). Lucas has sunk to an all-new low: self-parody.

Time to take him out behind the barn, with a shotgun.
2004-07-25 02:04:13 AM
I won't watch another Lucas movie unless it comes to me free off the Internet.
2004-07-25 02:12:03 AM
Hell of a lot better than Attack of the Clones/Phantom Menace
2004-07-25 02:25:18 AM
I was always hoping for a sequel to the third original.
I mean, just how lomg was it going to be "all good" before Chewie started free range barbequeing, well, everything ?
I mean, there are only so many ewoks, right ? A guy that big will get rather hungry

On a serious note, not like i was not before, I hope this film does not suck. Or my new fark login will be :
2004-07-25 02:27:34 AM
The movie will feature a lava surfing duel. We know this, because THAT is the "juicy tidbit" they chose to release to make this movie sound good. That is what they think the public wants out of this movie.

Look, give it up. Drop the fandom. Darth Vader WAS cool, a long time ago. Throughout my childhood, I remember only two Halloween costumes: Darth Vader, and Ninja. I know he used to be cool. But now, he's an X-Treme lava surfer with teen angst, a braid, and a painted royal whore for a girlfriend (who he "woos" with all the eloquence of a drunk reading a middle-school poetry homework assignment). If you want him to stay cool, just dont see the movie. Forget it exists. Dont let the return of a beloved character sway you. At BEST, it will add nothing to the Vader persona. If you want to see him again, watch the original films.

Or go and read some Darth Vader fan-fiction. I bet there are tons out there. You will then see what evil purpose a popular character can be put to, and realize that the nostalgia factor is not worth it. Pushing a popular character further then he/she should go leads to Tomb Raider games and Harry Potter slash Fanfiction.

I know Vader HAS to be in that movie (history-wise), but that does not change the fact that it will be HORRIBLE. Don't go for him alone. Just don't.
2004-07-25 03:29:17 AM
Does anyone else out there believe the scene in X-Men 2 where Magneto and Mystique woo Pyro to the 'dark side' in the Blackbird show up Lucas entirely? The subtlety that shines in that scene when Ian McKellen's Magento convinces the hot headed (no pun intended) youth he was a 'god among flies' speaks volumes what a decent script, great characters, a plot and great actors can do to make a moment shine.

/Let those Star Wars fanboys try to fend off that one...
2004-07-25 07:12:43 AM
THX 1138: The George Lucas Director's Cut???

because the original didn't have enough white??

/now for the ceremonial banging of the plastic toys
2004-07-25 09:30:17 AM

I just don't care anymore. I'm no less a zealous fanboy than I used to be... I'm an Apple nut and after FLCL, I freak at the sound of the word "GAINAX," but even a zealous fanboy can't be blamed for jumping off a sunken ship.

2004-07-25 09:36:40 AM
is there a sci-fi franchise out there that's really "relevant"?
2004-07-25 10:06:52 AM
This is supposed to be the darkest of all the Star Wars films. If that's true, it should be the best.

Kill off Jar Jar in the first five minutes and I will give it a mid-movie standing ovation.
2004-07-25 10:08:19 AM
Should have been,

"Lucas unveils new SW title at nerd-fest. Dooku still sucks."
2004-07-25 10:33:44 AM
That's all good and fine, but the real question is:

Does Han shoot first!?!??!?!
2004-07-25 11:36:10 AM
I saw the first one two or three days before before the hype started and the lines got long. I will probably wait to see "Revenge of the T Shirt" until after the hype is over and the lines are short again. Should take two, maybe three days.

/What goes around comes around.
2004-07-25 12:03:11 PM
"Revenge of the T Shirt"

That may have been below the belt, oldebayer.

And I agree completely with El Dangeroso. Hell, I would applaud all the way through the movie.

And I know I'm gonna get flamed, but I'm gonna stand by what I'm about to say: "Phantom" and "Clones" weren't that bad of movies. They may not have been as good as the original trilogy, but they were still...well, not pretty good. Maybe "good" or "fair". Is "not bad" a grade?
