Dammit Suzie, you could have shaken the dust off of Hobbes before you brought him into the room!

I've never worried about this. I know that Calvin married Suzie and that their daughter discovered Hobbes.

Calvin doesn't join in, he just smiles

I should really violate my complete collection and cut that one out to be framed.

Errr, the soft back 4 volume version. Not the hardbound 1st edition obviously

I just saw a film called "Dear Mr. Watterson" yesterday. I heartily recommend it to all C&H fans.
How he was able to exploit a particular moment in time and the culture to create something gem like and perfect. The simplicity of sheer genius.

Non-canon tearjerker fanwank.

The end of C&H is the "lets go exploring" comic posted in-thread.

\Hobbes and Bacon is similarly fanwank, but not tearjerker fanwank.
\\Though I'm glad someone added a second line of panels to that mean spirited comic about meds.

This is going to sound super edgelord, but I think I may be close to the only person who never liked Calvin and Hobbes. Nothing wrong with it, just not my cup of tea.

/Not an edgelord, I just don't get it or the following it has.

TFA was typical predictable glurge.  I often like that sort of thing when it's done well, but that just feels like it could've been written from a form.

The first time I saw this was before they added the second set of panels.  For some reason it hit me like a ton of bricks, likely because of the line about the pills making me think about what people are doing to their kids.

Yes, but you expressed it like a healthy human being.  Which gives you a massive leg up on most who decide to express similar opinions.

I started reading C&H when the first treasury book (Essential) came out in 1988.  I was about 8 at the time, and had every book after that right up to It's a Magical World.  Had to buy a couple of them multiple times.  It was probably the first fandom of my young life that wasn't a television cartoon.  I cried my junior year of high school when I read the article about it ending, but was glad it went out on top.

I hope Watterson is fulfilled and happy, whatever he's doing (and in whatever peace and solitude he desires).

I'd be a bit of an asshole if I begrudged someone liking a comic, regardless of my thoughts on it.

I mean, I'm an asshole for a lot of other reasons, but newspaper comics aren't even on my radar.

Very similar experience, and around the same age, but reading the books that my uncle had.

I have an, admitted fading dream, that free of deadlines, he's just been writing C&H comics in his own time and will one day decide to just dump them all on the internet.

While it's highly unlikely, I'd like to think it's true as well.  But if he did dump them, they'd NEVER be delivered electronically.

They'd be on paper.
