Lets make a video about sound effects and then talk all over it so the audience can't hear any of them.

Never thought where that sound came from, but now that I know, you can clearly hear that it is a bottle.

tl;dw version: Some sounds are real, some are made in the studio. So now you know, thanks for watching and click the bell for notifications.

My art mentor as a teen was the daughter of the guy who first did the "MEEPMEEP!" sound. Dude was a real POS by all accounts.

On a slight tangent, I would like ILM to develop some new sounds.  They've been using the same vehicle engine sound for the last 20 years in sci-fi films.  I'm tired of listening to all of the same recycled sound effects.

Star Wars blasters sound effect. How they did it

I remember as a kid in the seventies, watching a show about the making of Star Wars. They showed how they got the blaster sound. Big wrench, support wire for a telephone pole.

I grabbed a wrench, went to a telephone post. Hit the wire with the wrench.

Mind blown.

That was super annoying.  I want to push the narrator off a desert cliff and then drop a boulder on him.

Maybe I was too busy to pay attention, but I don't recall hearing the words "FOLEY ARTIST" once. That's what this is: Foley art.

3:45 seconds of video with maybe 30 seconds of informative content. Awesome.

I used to make the same sound by throwing rocks at a large water tank on the ground at an abandoned sewage treatment facility in my neighborhood when I was a kid. Something about the way the sound traveles down the cables and back is nearly identical to how it would echo around and through the perimeter of a on-the-ground tank. Weird.

Hold an unopened soda can by the top and bottom edges with one hand, With the thumb and index finger of the other hand, flick it, as if you were shooting a spitball off your thumb. It makes a surprisingly interesting sound.

That could've been really interesting and then it wasn't.

Kinda funny that there was a time when Disney had no catalog to work with. Not so much a problem these days.

This.  Also, horse sound effects (annoying whinny) and the gun cocking sound effect (sweet jesus is that overused).

I love hearing the Doom "gate opening" sound. Just this loud electric motor sound that doesn't sound...authentic?

Any time I hear it it takes me back to 14 year old me. Then I think about the mistakes.
