There is an "IMAGES" link in gray about 1/4 the way into the article. It does a pop-up, so make sure your browser is blocking the page's pop-ups.

pretty cool
2004-07-20 12:35:23 PM
Maybe I'm a horrible bastard and should be locked up for saying this (I'm really not...I'm a really nice guy, I swear), but if someone wants THIS badly to die...why not just let them?

Am I an asshole for thinking this?
2004-07-20 12:35:46 PM
isn't blocking the pop-ups. Damn beer drinking messing with my typing at 11:30 am
2004-07-20 12:36:43 PM
Lame; if you're going to kill yourself, do it during the +100 MpH police chase, not after.
2004-07-20 12:37:24 PM

I would agree except she may be a little loco. I have a friend who is crazy without his meds and gets himself into all kinds of trouble. Perhaps this girl needs some real help, and could lead a happy life after that?

I do support Dr. Kevorkian (spelling?) and don't think he should be locked up.
2004-07-20 12:38:47 PM
If you want to kill yourself, fine. But don't risk the lives of others in the process.

Here endeth the lesson.
2004-07-20 12:47:43 PM
Even if it was just meds or something that caused this, I'm sure the police will charge her with everything they can. Her life will not be worth living when she gets out of prison for felony eluding causing injury or something like that. The police just saved her life to destroy in there own way.

/might have went a little overboard
2004-07-20 01:26:33 PM
I don't know. I thought what the cop did was pretty cool.
2004-07-20 01:37:25 PM
I said the same thing in another thread about this, but....when people start badmouthing cops, show them this video.

That officer is really impressive. ANd so humble about it afterwards.
2004-07-20 01:39:19 PM
She was apparently suffering post-partum depression. Her family called the cops because they were worried she might do this, hence the car chase.

When she gets over her baby blues, she should fellate this officer.
2004-07-20 01:47:05 PM
"When she gets over her baby blues, she should fellate this officer."

Or at the very least, offer him her pit bull.

Thanks to this article, I have seen the phrase "hunker down" more today than I have in my entire life before it.

Hunker down.
2004-07-20 02:53:52 PM
Looks like they were doing a little pre-hunkering feely mcgropegope.

She could have landed on someone - therefore taking a life with her.

I submitted this with a rushed and less funny headline last night.
2004-07-20 04:57:12 PM

She could have landed on someone - therefore taking a life with her.

On the water?

stupid pigz
2004-07-20 06:37:39 PM
Too bad that the officer did not have time to talk her into one last BJ before she tried to jump.

"No time to think -- just a fraction of a second for me to realize -- that there's nowhere to tie the rope off. It feels as though my bad arm is going to tear away from my body -- until I compare it to the exquisite pain of hitting concrete at 35 miles per hour."

- Batman: Ego
2004-07-20 06:38:55 PM
I saw the video of it on TV. That cop is a true badass.
2004-07-20 06:39:45 PM
In Atlanta this summer, bridging jumping over interstate highways has become quite popular with the attention whore crowd.
What ever happen to bottle of Jack and a shotgun.
People who commit or attempt suicide in public areas are just attention whores.
I have no sympathy for them, and wish the cops would just push them on the bridge (although i know they won't)

Here's a website to a local Green Bay station, much more detailed.
2004-07-20 06:44:31 PM
Now that's a good cop. I fully approve. May he get all the donuts he possibly wants, unless he thinks donuts for cops are cliched and hurtful, in which case may he get whatever the heck he wants, like the world's biggest chocolate cake or somethin'.
2004-07-20 06:44:32 PM
If someone wants out of this shiatty life that bad... god... let them go.
2004-07-20 06:44:33 PM
I don't know...I think if someone was thinking rationally about killing themselves...they could do it. The fact that she was exhibiting mental problems should show you that maybe killing herself was just a spur of the moment thing, something she'll regret considering later.

I know some of you are pessimists but life can really turn around for people, even when it seems your at your worst. I've known plenty attempted suicides who just laugh (or cry) at how unstable they were and have been able to move on to bigger and better things.
2004-07-20 06:45:40 PM
Hey, that's my cousin!!! Seriously. Talked to his mom today, they've been getting non-stop phone calls for interviews. He did a few morning shows today. Everybody's pretty damned proud.
2004-07-20 06:45:46 PM
Should have let her jump. One less wacko to deal with.
2004-07-20 06:47:03 PM
that was a very brave thing to do. he could have easily flipped over with her.

p.s. rap sucks
2004-07-20 06:47:21 PM
"I was able to hold on to her arm and play tug-of-war with her until I was able to pull my arm back far enough where I could hold myself and hold on to her."

Sheriff's deputies weren't far behind, and they ran to help pull Boldt and the woman to safety.

It's my party and I'll die if I want to!
2004-07-20 06:48:14 PM
Reminds me of the woman who jumped off of Seattle's Ship Canal Bridge. It's a huge freeway bridge over a relatively shallow channel. She jumped off... and lived. Of course, her legs were broken, but she lived.

Why is it always women who jump off of bridges and make a big scene of things?
2004-07-20 06:48:20 PM
I'm not sure I understand the use of the 'hero' tag here. Unless her suicide would have endangered the lives of others, why not let her jump? If her life were a living hell, what right does a police officer have to insist that she continue living it?

The sooner a suicidal jumper jumps, the sooner traffic on that road returns to normal. Fark negotiating. The way I see it, this is just one more mentally unstable person my tax dollars are going to have to support while they're locked up.
2004-07-20 06:48:35 PM
That's the badest-ass thing in a while, man. Wow.

Lucky she didn't kill herself, it's against the law. She would still be in jail...dead...
2004-07-20 06:49:04 PM
I was somewhat hoping that after risking his life to save this woman, he would've pulled her up and then beat her to death with his nightstick. Then he's a hero, and she still gets her wish. Win win situation.
2004-07-20 06:49:12 PM
If you saved a kid from a burning building=hero

If you save a family from their submerged mini van=hero

If you "save" someone from killing their own damn self= not a hero.
2004-07-20 06:50:26 PM
Should have let her jump. One less wacko to deal with.

I agree 100%
2004-07-20 06:50:47 PM
Why does it say under the picture of the cop he was describing what happened "next" tuesday? Story so late-breaking it hasn't yet happened?
2004-07-20 06:51:29 PM
Now there's an officer with abundant earlobes. If they'd fallen, he might have been able to flap those whoppers and float them both down safely.
2004-07-20 06:53:22 PM
The cop looks like Farva...

Gimme a liter-a-cola.
A liter-a-cola.
Just order a large, Farva.
I don't want a large Farva. I want a god damn liter-a-cola.
I don't know what that is.
Liter is French for give me some farking cola before I break vous farking lips!
