Why is this in the geek tab? It's the least intelligent thing I've seen all week.

Guns are fun, and they are engineering marvels. It takes science and math to make them, and math to correctly aim them when shooting at long range targets. Guns require more education than a liberal's weapon of choice, kale chips.

It's "banned" everywhere. California only has a ban in place against .50BMG rifles, not all DDs.

But if you're too stupid to use something and not figure out how to use the weapon sights, which seems to be the lot for MAGAts, it's probably best we take it away from you for your own protection. Thanks for making that point for me.

CSB Time...

Similar thing happened to a friend and I on our way to a "Range Day" on another friends ranch. I got pulled over by a sheriff for doing 65 in a 55. We had everything from .22 pistols to AR-15s piled into an extended cab Tacoma. We had pistol cases on the dash, we each had an AR-15 between a leg and the center console, and enough rifle cases to fill the extended cab to the point you couldn't see out the back window.

After curios glances from the sheriff and running my info, he let us go with a warning.

Only had something like that happen once on the way to a range, but there was only one rifle in my friends van.
It just happened to be a Lahti on a skid mount, so it obviously wasn't in a rifle case.
That obviously attracted some attention, but we also got away with no ticket after a couple of sheriff selfies.

Libs own guns. Lots of them. But as they don't tend to define themselves as human beings by their ownership, they just aren't loud about it.
People who don't base their entire identity on single-issue tend to be that way. The vast majority of motorcycle owners don't have every inch of clothing, truck, and trailer space covered with Harley logos. Vast majority of religious people don't have vehicles covered in bible quotes. Those folks are just more visible. Doesn't mean they have a corner on the market.

It seems to me like our fascination with tools to kill members of our own species - and just as importantly that one of our biggest industries is manufacturing them - is something we will need to move past someday, if the human race ever wants to get its shiat together, and survive and thrive in the long run.

Based upon what I'm seeing here, we should continue to work more diligently to make weapons even more deadly.  It's worked for us so far.

No where near as many as conservatives, though:

At least, that's what surveys say.  Conservatives are roughly twice as likely to own a gun as a liberal.  Though I suspect that the numbers for all those groups are biased downwards.  I know plenty of people who will lie and say they don't own a gun to a stranger on the phone or in person with a clipboard, but I don't know any non-gun owners who will lie and say they do own them.

No we have some plenty deadly weapons at our disposal the problem is we just aren't using the right ones on a day to day basis. also medical science and disease prevention and agriculture seem to far out pace the enhanced killing capacity of firearms. on a side note i think this graph would be much more interesting if it went back 100-200k years to include events like this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toba_catastrophe_theory.

I love the modern definition of "liberal" being "anyone who disagrees with the far-right wingnuts."  How many people have you called snowflake today?  The liberal weapon of choice is equality.  How bad does it suck being on the side opposite human dignity?  Been to a gay bashing lately?  That's the side conservatives are on.
