that's WHY Barr was confirmed.  the corruption was the entire point.

what really should make you sit up nights tho is this: if the GOP are so afraid of whatever it is Mueller put into his report that they're willing to go THIS far to bury it....then what happens when the GOP lose either the white house and/or the senate?  first thing any democratic white house administration is gonna do is pop the cork on the unredacted Mueller report and that'll be that for the Republican party.  the Republicans know that if they go down this road, it only delays the inevitable...and not for very long at that.

While I absolutely think the Mueller report is somewhat damning, I don't think it is as damning as I think you think it is.

I think that worries me more, though - that the GOP would go to such lengths to bury it even though it isn't that bad.

At this point I'm more concerned about what the GOP is going to do in order to prevent them from losing the WH and/or Senate.  Suspended elections is paranoia, but I'm willing to bet that the next 18 months is going to have record numbers of voters purged from the rolls.

Especially considering how much shiat trump and his appointments do every day in plain sight.

trump could kill every sycophant in his cabinet (100% loyal or otherwise) by firing squad and replace them directly with Russians picked by Putin and he still wouldn't lose any support, whether the 40% that support him in the public, or among congress.

One up side to all the money in elections now is that if you cancel the elections, it's all wasted money.  So that won't happen.  Not to mention how decentralized elections are.

Purging?  Yeah, someone will probably look at voters names and start purging them for sounding insufficiently white.

the GOP kinda have to go 'all in' with the election fraud.  if the Mueller report really is 'extinction level' stuff for all things Republican then the GOP cannot EVER afford to lose any election anywhere in the country at any level ever again....because the FIRST thing the Dems will do once taking the Senate and/or the White House is unlock that mueller report and see what the fuss was all about.

The GOP has already been preparing for this.

It is why so many count seats were held open even though Obama should have seated them.

Trump is packing the judiciary with sympathetic judges.

They are dismantling the checks and balances the only way they have left, all the while attempting to dehumanize the dems so their fruitcakes take care of the problems 2nd amendment style.

Their cases haven't hit their friendly judges yet.

Look at states hoping FratBro will help them overturn Roe v Wade.

They know they will lose a fair fight so they are trying to stack the deck and push a hit through as fast as possivle.

It is the death rattle of the old religious white patriarchy dying and this is them flailing and they hope the stacked courts will save their ideas at least.

I don't think the GOP *can* actually pull off all the illegal shiat they're gonna have to pull off if they intend to survive.  they're already losing in places like PA and MI.  even stacking the various courts with Trumper judges isn't helping.....because the the GOP aren't putting people with even basic qualifications into jobs anymore - the ONLY standard to get confirmed by the trump administration is loyalty.  well the problem with that is sure, you've got a LOT of loyal people in your government...but they're unqualified idiots and/or trumper ideologues.  they've got no idea what they're doing, zero ability to inspire loyalty of even their own employees and EVERYONE is expecting every last ONE of Donny's new hires to break the law soon as they start whatever job they've just been appointed to do and just standing there collecting evidence of criminal behavior.

And that's not mentioning the complete inability of Trump himself to see beyond even his CURRENT available moves, let alone try and outsmart his enemies who've basically been running the table on him since the Dems flipped the House of Reps blue.  Trump's only recourse has been to just sit there and flatly refuse to comply with the law...and the only reason he gets away with that is because he's burning GOP support to save himself from the legal consequences of his criminal actions.

Trump is worried about 2020? if I were him, i'd be worried about staying in office for another 30 days, let alone another 12 months.  the Dems have held the House for a little over 3 months and donny has already degenerated into windmills and paranoid rants about conspiracies.  how much more insane ya think he'll get once Pelosi gets her hands on the complete and unredacted Mueller report?

you forgot dumping refugees in reliably blue sanctuary states, opening the door for accusations of voter fraud (because, you know, "illegals" vote - somehow)

some potential good news - Trump has reportedly raised 30 million for re-election to date, but less than 5 million of it is from small donors. I'm going to read that as a lack of enthusiasm from the base.

or the fact that his base is flat out broke and literally can't donate any significant funding to the Republican 2020 campaigns.

the trumpers have never had the money the Republicans require in order to stay in power.  the GOP leadership has to balance the desires of their rich elites (the money guys) with the needs of a whiny, ignorant racist voter base who's regressive fear of progress prevents even the possibility of any Republican anywhere having any sort of original thought on any issue ever again.  kinda difficult to innovate new solutions when you're stuck between a rock and a rabid badger that's addicted to ripping out throats.

Which is why the first priority of the next Democratic president should be to appoint someone to head DOJ who will assign those judges to critically important tasks such as indexing their belly button lint. Keep them the hell away from actual trials or other matters of real importance. And if that clogs the remaining functional courts with cases, simply start dismissing all cases that do not involve violence, large scale fraud against the poor, or outright treason.

Hence why some Democrats are talking about packing SCOTUS in the next decade, like adding 2 new seats to it, to restore the majority.

. . .it's also why Republicans are trying to build up talk of a Constituitonal Amendment to fix the number of Justices at 9. . .but they'd never get that through the House, or probably a number of states either.

Since society is shifting fast, if their master plan is to use lifetime appointments on the Judiciary to tenuously hang on to remnants of power, the plan is already being put out there to counter-pack the courts in response, rather than have an increasingly diverse, progressive society that sees any attempts at modernization and progress thwarted by a Judiciary that wants to declare being being progressive to be Unconstitutional.
