If only that stuff had come up before his confirmation hearing.

Oh who am I kidding, Senate Republicans don't care about bald-faced corruption.

A fellow statistician and I were actually discussing at work if it would be possible to establish a statistically feasible "dead dismissed pool" for Trump appointees. We decided it was way too random.

To be honest there are no qualified, respected, worthy people willing to accept a trump appointment (cept maybe in the military, which has already done its own vetting.)

I think it just saves time if we all just assume that anyone who WANTS to work for trump is only doing so for the opportunity to steal something.

its really really weird watching this administration operate.  everyone in a leadership position is either massively corrupt or incompetent (frequently both).  none of these corrupt assholes have even bothered to learn their jobs, they don't have any support from the fedgov workers who keep these departments running.  the GOP/senate has abandoned their oversight role and actively works to block the House at every turn...for no real reason other than its the Democrats doing their jobs.

Trump demands everyone be loyal to him personally, then he shuts down the entire fedgov for 35+ days.  Because forcing people to work without pay for over a month is a great way to increase department morale and make people really want to be loyal to your administration, right?

*shrug*

A grapefruit is 4 minutes and 17 seconds, so you can just do the math.

I also really gotta wonder what the longer term affect of all this corrupt leadership is going to have on federal workers.  even assuming if the assholes trump puts in charge bother to actually check up on their employees...how does a corrupt trumper in charge of any government department go about cracking down on illegal/unethical behavior from the rank and file fedgov workers?  they won't be able to do so without coming across as hypocritical jerks...and that will only further undermine what little authority these people already have.  not to mention that all of this undermines confidence in the federal government itself.

it ALL has an effect, and while Trump and the GOP might feel confident in ignoring reality....that's not going to stop reality from happening to them (and us!) just the same.

Terry Pratchet was right.  We could save so much time just tossing them into jail as soon as they're elected/appointed.

Nah, most are doing it against their will because they are completely compromised and being blackmailed. This includes the President and his entire family.

And nothing will happen, he will keep his job, he will get rich playing both sides, he will do lasting damage to the things he is supposed to protect, he will get a massive promotion in the lobbying world once Trump is done with him, and will become wealthier than ever with no repercussions at all. He won't even be mildly embarrassed by any of this at the country club.

Where's the down side?

And that is why all of the White House personnel getting security clearances despite the presence of tons of disqualifying factors with no mitigation of those factors should be a big deal.
