CSB: I did.

I've regretted it every day for almost 10 years now.

I own and operate a private museum of dirty syringes, empty Night Train bottles and discarded doll's heads in a little rustic cottage out in the woods. Well, it's more of a boxcar really, so it's actually like one of those trendy shipping container buildings. I've never thought about using it as a romantic retreat, but hey, that's a good idea. I'll need some binaca and an extra freezer, though.

Worked for me,

Then again I work in a museum.

The behind the scenes trick helps a lot.

All kindsa museums.  Actually a pretty good idea, especially if there's a hot exhibit there, or if it has different kinds of exhibits (different interests).  Also shows you don't think they're a dope.  Okay, maybe when you're older.

Houston Museum of Natural Science puts on an event called 'Mixers & Elixers' during the Summer months. They have food trucks outside, bars set up throughout the museum, live music, and you get access to most of the exhibits. Took my (now) wife there on our 3rd date. She absolutely loved it and we also became members since then.

/Eventually got married in the Hall of Precious Gems & Minerals, so we have a lot of connections to that museum

Tried that out a while back. Things were going well, she said she wanted to take me home...then the damned curator insisted she couldn't remove anything from the exhibit, so I was stuck there alone.

There's a great social scene with a changing variety of activities at The Andy Warhol Museum.

My last first date was to an Olive Garden, and we've been married for a few months shy of twenty years. The less I talk about Shakespeare, Milton, Dante and Homer, the more she likes it.
