They're not so rare. Here's a whole flock of  them, just begging to be shot:

But turkey is a lot of white meat to begin with, isn't it?

That poor turkey keeps getting killed. It must be pissed.

[gannett-cdn.com image 534x361]

Yeah, I'm kinda skeptical about the rare part. I've seen a lot of white and partly white wild turkeys around my parents' house which happens to be less than a mile from a turkey farm.

Yeah, there's one who's been hanging out in my swamp for the past couple seasons. I keep thinking, "I ought to kill that thing today" but just never get around to it.

Who farking cares? It's an unusual phenotype without much pigment. Whoop-de-farking-do.

It doesn't grant wishes, it's not specially blessed by the goddess, and it's still a turkey so it's still ugly as fark.

Thinking a white turkey is special and shouldn't be hunted when other ones are fine is only a reflection of your superficial value system.

Also, that turkey probably wasn't long for the world anyway with how much it had a disadvantage in terms of camouflage. A coyote or bobcat woulda got him eventually.

So...the dude legally hunted a wild, non endangered, animal. It had a rare coloration, such that would make it noticeable and vulnerable to predation (hence its rarity), and people are up in arms when nature does its thing...just because a human is involved?

Hunting isn't my thing, I don't enjoy the processing of animals, and I'm not a fan of yokels killing stuff just to kill stuff, but I'm finding it difficult to get particularly upset here.

I read the article, but didn't watch the video, am I missing something?

Yeah. People who think that meat has to be butchered en mass, wrapped in plastic, and sit on a grocery store shelf before it's safe to consume thinking their opinion on hunting matters.

Also, it's turkey season in Tennessee. It's not like this guy is a turkey poacher. He shot a game animal in season.

Cause stalking, gunning down an unarmed animal in front of its family, is barbaric...  The civilized thing is to go to your local grocery store, and buy the defeathered, broken down carcass, ready to shove into the oven animal

Having raised slaughtered, plucked, and butchered turkeys myself; I'm buying them at the store from here out. They're tasty, but they're also a giant pain in the ass that is definitely worth more than the $0.69/lb they cost in November.

If you think seeing an albino wild turkey is "a chance of a lifetime", you need to get out more.

No, just standard domestic broad breasted turkey in white and bronze.
