(CBS News)   How a dude found a secret Assange indictment, an ISIS commander from New Jersey, and an FBI raid of a sitting US congressman. All from reading court documents. Wonder what his Fark handle is?   (cbsnews.com) divider line

Kind of how someone combing the books at the Citadel found out Jon Snow was nailing his aunt.

His experience with PACER reminds me of mine with the online registry of deeds. It's hypersensitive to irrelevant details, like you have to know to type"RD" instead of "ROAD". I never did figure out what the trick is to take a page and book number and turn that into a document. It's not as simple as entering the page and book number in the fields that claim to be asking for a page and book number. A properly trained paralegal can snap her fingers and find ten times as much as I can given the same query in a tenth the time.

Me neither.

I find my dirt elsewhere, not court docs.

Lulz@ "One of the things about Seamus that I find frustrating is sometimes he'll take these sexy documents and he'll just tweet them out," Goldman said. "I don't think it's a good idea. I think he should give them to reporters so we can report them out and then write stories about them and put them on the front page of The New York Times. While giving credit to Seamus of course."

Do the shoe-level stuff, broh. Jesus. What a f*cking whiner.

That would require somebody to RTFA.  So that eliminates about 95% of Fark's active membership.

Seamus wants PACER to be free, and he wants it to work better.

Ummm...

Submitter, it doesn't mention anything about being an overweight, angsty 40 year old IT worker living in his mom's basement, so I doubt they're a Farker

Hey, I'm an academic. Not, you know, a good one, but still. I know there are other similar misfits academic Farkers on here too.
