Those who aren't NASCAR fans, apologies if any shenanigans occur, but seven-time fake Cup champion Jimmie Johnson is in today's marathon field, so the idol is quite possibly targeting his ankles.

He won't be able to run, it's rainy and we know those athletes don't sport in the rain.

/Would be cool to see them try to use those NASCAR jet dryers on the course
//Pothole fragments would be landing in New Hampshire and Rhode Island

I'm now in my 40s, fat and low.  It took two years of training to even finish a half marathon (I "ran" the first 9 miles or so, then broke down a bit) but its still a dream to run Boston someday.

Ok, I am going to be "that guy"

Yesterday on the Olympic channel they has an airing of what was the Boston Marathon, from who knows when. It was on all, day! (it snowed like mad by me so I was stuck in the house all day). I had it on for 15 mins.
And I though soccer was boring.

Nobody warned me about that nipple thing before my first half, I thought they were going to fall off.

Either the flyover just went by or shiat is hitting the fan.

/Or both, maybe?

Only if Juan Pablo Montoya was running.

I feel for those poor wheelchair folks having to navigate all the potholes.

Nasty weather today, some super heavy thunderstorms when I headed into work at 7 this morning. Hopefully it's all cleared off.

Do they actually run when there's lightning in the area? Seems dangerous

I'm told one of the benefits of living along the Marathon route is that those potholes get top priority every spring and they're not done half-assed. Although they're main routes and would likely get top priority anyways given the traffic on them, but it's still a nice story.

Conditions haven't been right for fixing potholes, too cold still. Spring only started on Saturday

They've been filling them in my area the last week and a half or so, at least on the main roads. But then again I'm down in the tropical southern part of 495, not in the barren wastelands of Natick and Ashland...

I put on my nipple clamps, does that count?

Having run it 3 times (charity / sponsored runner... didn't qualify) I'll tell you it's an amazing experience. It's the closest ordinary schmucks like me can get to seeing what it feels like to be a pro athlete. The entire route is packed at least 2 rows deep with people cheering. And it's fun to think that you're participating in the same event, on the same course, at the same time as the world's top athletes in the sport. It's like if someone let you play in the Masters. All the pros are on the course with you at the same time, and the galleries and crowds are also watching you and cheering. When I was on the final stretch of Boylston St the crowds were huge and loud. Thousands of people. I actually slowed down and started gesturing with my arms for them to cheer louder and they did. It was surreal.
