Dear The Flash,

Feel free to come to NYC and go topless in public... it's perfectly legal for non-commercial purposes.  I would caution against doing so in the Times Square area, as there are topless women with body paint and a host of people in costumes who sell pictures to tourists who may think you're trying to muscle in on their turf.  Parks, beaches, and protests are the most common locations to see other topless women in NYC (and Long Island), but they're relatively rare overall.

I'll have to see this in person to determine whether it's acceptable or not. This may require some time to study.

Most women have breasts. The remarkable thing is that we try to pretend they don't, most of the time.

Not sure why that is, but it's pretty silly if you think about it.

Free the tits. They're God's way of saying, " See, I can make nice things."

Most people, both men and women, have been conditioned to believe that breasts are a purely sexual organ and serve no other purpose than attracting mates.  You can usually point them out when a new mother is breast feeding in public as said perverts will complain about it.

Or you can subscribe to the argument a friend and I had about the most offensive part of the human body is the nipples.

1) The advice columnist thinks you get a thrill from turning people on and/or mentally harming them with your breasts. This is dumb, if it was the former you'd just show your boobs to a date. If it was the latter you'd seek out old evangelical women to flash.  You seem to get off on what you view as risky sexual behavior, getting "caught", which is super common.

2) The vast majority of America (geographically) allows women to be topless in public without legal consequences. Stick to those areas when doing so. The sexual thrill is still there, people will be surprised and stare, you will be "caught" by people and that will turn your gears.

Good question. What they're really asking is "Can I continue to seek sexual release by making other people uncomfortable".

Sorry, but no.

I agree wholeheartedly with this advice, although I believe I would like to impose

As far as going braless, she was simply born 40 or so years too late.

My ex fiancee has B cups.  Sometimes she went bra-less.  When we went through security at an airport, she was wearing a T-shirt and had a cross bag.  Apparently as she took the bag off before getting to security, she somehow got her shirt caught, causing her shirt to go totally up and exposing both of her boobs.  I was already ahead so i didn't notice anything.  When she realized what she did she immediately tugged her t-shirt down and looked around in embarrassment.  As she told me later, there was a guy who caught the whole show, was grinning and gave her a big thumbs up.

./Why do I never get those free shows?

So crude.

The correct thing would be to come over and politely and quietly say "Bravo Madame. Capital knockers." and walk away.

Breasts, when not engorged with milk, are in fact an evolutionary development designed specifically to attract. So yes, they spend 90%+ of their existence being nothing more than sexual adornment.

I had mine done (DDD thank you) - and I admit I'm okay without wearing bra and even flashed them.

I actually flashed two gay guys - I'm doing it wrong.

As stated in the Slate response, if people are being offended (which is the closest to objective harm anyone could be in danger of) by your breasts, the problem is them. You should concern yourself with safety, though in a better world you wouldn't have to.

It is surprising how quickly bare female breasts become a non-issue once it is established I am not to have access to them.

Just personally, I wouldn't walk around without some support, but that's a practical thing. Also I don't like to be stared at, and don't wear much of anything that attracts attention. Tight shirts, high heels, short skirts, cleavage....

So nope I guess on the public topless.
