(Pro Football Talk)   Manziel says his "single goal" is to return to the NFL. Luckily for him, the league has partnered with StubHub and Ticketmaster and made NFL Ticket Exchange very easy to use   (profootballtalk.nbcsports.com) divider line

Why dude? You nailed that before and pissed it away. You had your chance.

There's only room for one annoying, overconfident QB in the NFL, and Baker Mayfield is already there -- and he actually seems like he's good.

/Cam Newton is runner up

Earlier this week, XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck left the door open for Manziel

But they said no criminal records allowed!? Or right...money.
Was a stupid rule anyway.

He will return to the NFL right after Tebow gets call up to the major league.

Manziel would get the call before Kaepernick.

This dude gets a disproportionate amount of coverage compared to his actual talent. Even Tebow won a playoff game, for crying out loud.

Stop trying to make this overhyped jackass who only made it to the NFL because he had Mike Evans as a receiver at Texas A&M a thing.

Manziel was willing to play for a standard contract. And would probably be willing to play in the NFL for minimum as a backup.  if kap was willing to do the same, he'd probably get a job

I would've thought criminal records were mandatory for the XFL.

Vince wants to go super flag wavin' MURICA with the XFL, because he's trying to cash in on right-wing anger over Kaepernick et al taking knees at the national anthem.  Part of that was that he said there would be no one with a criminal record allowed.

The problem with this business model is that I don't think that this backlash existed to the degree Vince and others think (or hope) it did, and it's over now anyway.  And the colossal failure of tha AAF shows that there's not a market for off-season football anyway.

So I fully expect that by the time the XFL takes the field -- if it ever does -- Vince would be more than happy to let Johnny Football, or, hell, Kaep himself in the league, because it really looks like it's DOA.

They're college kids. You're gonna have minor offenses. If you want to weed out domestic abusers or habitual offenders I get that but saying "NO criminal offenses"  was just a stupid thing to say.

As for the market, I think it's there. I thought I read that they were getting 400K-500K viewers for games.
I imagine there are a good number of viewers that aren't counted because they don't' get the cable channels they were on and were watching them on youtube or some other shiatty stream.

I think there's a market for it. If the play is decent, and it's accessible. Don't bury it on cable channels and live streaming. I turn on ABC on a Sunday afternoon and they're running a Proactive infomercial marathon. Who the fark is watching that?

Some of you are missing the point.  He wants to return to the NFL.  You can't return unless you are there and then you leave.  He got the first 2 steps out of the way early, now step 3 will be the tough one.

He cracked a CFL roster, he was the starting QB for the Als last year.  He got booted out the League for his personal issues, not his ability on the field.

Manziel has far more talent than Tebow.

Manziel is just a complete fark up off he field, if he could clean his act up and commit himself to the game he has the talent to be in the NFL, he has more skill than some that have held starting jobs since 2016. Tebow would be a bottom of the barrel backup after a rash of injuries at most.

Sure Tebow got a playoff win, but he was a combination of stupidly lucky during the season to get wins and make the playoffs and had a really good team around him. Meanwhile Manziel was on the Browns.

They missed the playoffs last year.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to miss the playoffs in the CFL?

Also while he showed some improvement to the end of the season frankly he wasn't that good.

I completely disagree.

Go back & watch Manziel's second season, the year after he won the Heisman. He always threw to Mike Evans even when he was double-covered. He had no concept on how to look off his receivers & it showed once he got to the NFL. Throwing into double coverage against Mississippi State is totally different than doing it against the Steelers.

I'd argue Tebow at least knew what to do. He just couldn't do it very well. Tebow also recognized what he was good at. He was a great leader & ran exceptionally well. His problem, besides throwing, was when he got crushed against the Patriots in the playoffs. I think they broke his ribs because they knew he was running at all times.

On the other hand, when Tebow played for the Toronto Argonauts and got his Northern pith, he was basically unstoppable.

Easy when you are playing for a shiatty team.

Tebow lacked the skills. Doesn't matter how smart he was he simply couldn't do the job.

If Manziel could keep his head in the game he, he would almost certainly have had better decision making (the shiat that was going on certainly messes with anyone's decision making) and could have been passable. I don't think he would ever be a good quarterback by NFL standards, but look at the bottom tier starting QBs let alone backup QBs in the league.

That said, I don't think he is capable of cleaning up his act. But even then, I would take Manziel in 2015 over Tebow in 2011.
