I have a switch and Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

That game alone is worth the price of the switch.

Nah, they skipped that and called their last one the Weeoo. Think that was it, at least.

The Switch is awesome. Most fun I've had with a game console since I was in high school.

I have bought every Nintendo console for the 3d Marios alone, starting with the 64.  My fave game of all time.  The switch could use a bigger screen and better battery, but it is a decent portable console.

Yet Mario Party hasn't received a single piece of new content. It has the worst board and mini-game selection of any Mario Party game.  Great they got rid of the dumb car but cut the amount of content in return.

It's almost like Nintendo doesn't want to easily make eleventy-billion dollars by simply releasing a new Mario Kart game.

Mugato: Nintendo has always kind of been lame since the 64 and even that just had Shadows of the Empire and GoldenEye.

Just the Zelda games made the N64 a decent console. Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are some of the best Zelda games by any standard. It also had good Mario games. I never had one but I've emulated the games, thus getting the best of both worlds because I could use a good controller instead of the N64 abomination. Anyways, I would say Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are such good games that they pretty much make the N64 relevant.

But yeah, it wasn't exactly a Playstation. That can't really be denied.

I don't have a Switch now but with the new Animal Crossing game coming to it that may well need to change.

2019-03-26 12:11:13 AM
I suppose I should say, if you buy a Nintendo of any sort, it's to play Nintendo games. They exist to play their own IP and that they do well. There are lots and lots of other good games too, but just the fact you CAN play Zelda or Mario pretty much does it. If the Nintendo franchises didn't exist, Nintendo would probably never have been able to stay in the game vs MS and Sony.

The Switch has plenty of social potential. Have they ported a D&D type RPG to it? DM gets the habd held, party plays on the screen.

I just wish they would remaster Ocarina for the Switch's higher graphics, or at least publish some of the classics like previous consoles.

Random Anonymous Blackmail: I have a switch and Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

That was initially what got me on board, too. Mercilessly spanking lynels, dismembering guardians with shovels and accidentally collecting korok poops aside, it definitely has a solid lineup of RPGs and platformers, and is the only console that's managed to pull me away from the desktop for five minutes since the Wii U (Xenoblade X ate away at my time like an MMO, and I wasn't even all that salty over the shiatty non-ending).

That said, if a game's out in the Switch and Windows, I'll still usually wind up pairing the pro controller to my desktop for a time. I try not to be hung up on graphics of all things, but playing some titles on the Switch is like putting frosted glass on my screen.

Blast Crops was fun as well Pilotwings 64. As lets not for get Mario Kart or Goldeneye and Smash multiplayer. Half the fun of owning a N64 was 4 player multiplayer games.

Considering those franchises are good enough that they regularly pop up on lists of "best games ever", I can't agree more. Nintendo has also practically cornered the market on family-friendly gaming, and party gaming. So maybe I give them too little credit.

Considering the Expansion Pak was a memory module that went into an existing slot (original card's a terminator module, because RAMBus was weird), I'd call it an addon, like a rumble pak. There was never a revision that came with the additional RAM out of the box, though.

That you picked a captain toad cosplay clip was perfect.

They flubbed Mario party yet again though. I've yet to play a match that didn't essentially have infinite coins after like turn 5.

I should have read the thread first.

That said, Mario party one ages poorly, and 5 is an abomination (orbs to throw on spaces, but you can land on your own bad orbs...)

I still play 6-8 regularly, 3 lately, and 9/10 have good minigames.

I fixed that for you. Also; to get technical, Quake 64 and Doom 64 were .WADded into Doom II: Hell on Earth as a patch and Quake II as an 'iD DownLow(d) exclusive'. I know this because 67MB over 56K is four minutes short of eternity.

Also; Mega Man 64 was a PC game in Japan. Resident Evil 2 was a Saturn game in dev when Sega killed the system, and it wound up being ported to PlayStation.

Congratulations: You only forgot Pilotwings 64 and Donkey Kong 64 to complete the "There are ten games worth playing on the system (that aren't better played elsewhere)."

Muppet graphics, dicktrollers, 5 fps, cheap kills, lunar physics that put Virtua Fighter 1 to shame, music that sounds like someone farting in a soup can and Oddjob. Fark Oddjob. That's GoldenEye.

Rumor is the lower-spec version released will lack detachable controls, so a fixed portable system to cut costs for people who don't want to hook it up to a TV. The higher-spec version is supposed to be genuine 1080p on all games (so, maybe a slightly newer CPU and GPU) along with that 1080p resolution on the handheld screen.

Yeah my kid beat Odyssey in a weekend. I didn't believe him at first so he did it the following weekend to prove it. I was a little disappointed it was so short since I had fond memories of spending weeks trying to beat various Mario games. I don't think he got all the stars, but it's still pretty short if it can be powered through in a few hours.

Exploring the maps is the whole game.

They just made the story progression require significantly fewer stars to advance so that kids could play the whole game without too much frustration.

That is a positive for the game imo.

I mean I know you said he didn't get all the stars, but holy carp there are a lot of stars in that game. He did the equivalent of one star per world in Mario 64.
